Any experiences with either the eNTYRE or WR G2? I'm researching tires for my Cruze, and both of these look intriguing. I have been extremely impressed with the Hakka R snow tires, so I figured these would get a look. Both are available in the V speed rating the Cruze specifies (no comments about high speed ratings on "economy" cars, please!), and are similarly priced to the Michelin Primacy MXM4's also on the radar.

eNTYRE is fairly new, so I can't comment. WR is really a light duty snow tire, even though Nokian classifies it as "all weather". You can run it all year long, but in my experience, the wear will be significantly accelerated when it's hot outside. From a winter performance perspective, I would expect the WR to fare better than Primacy MXM4 though.
^^Yes, if you already have Hakka Rs, the WRG2s would be a redundant waste, especially on a traction-controlled FWD car.

If so, I would be looking for a high performance (but also high treadwear/LRR if possible, and that's what you are concerned with) pure SUMMER tire for this ride.

I've got the WR G2s on both the XC & 300E. They're great. Quiet, excellent all weather traction, including snow. At about 30K miles, I am guessing we will get 45 -50K from them. But the all around performance is great. They're worth every penny. Plan to buy them again for those 2 cars when this set wears out...

At 49,000 miles on the CRV the WR G2 just hit the first wear bar. They are the finest 3 season tire we have ever run. Road noise, particularly when the tire gets old, is the only negative. Since you have a set of Hakka R's I would go for the eNTYRE's. If you do go for the eNTYRE please let us know your opinion.

Sounds pretty good.
Most of the tires available in 215/55-17 with a V speed rating have a 45-55k treadwear warranty, so seeing a 75k treadwear warranty had me excited.
There are several local dealers shown, so warranty "shouldn't" be an issue.
I'll likely get these in the spring of 2013, as the OEM Goodyears have some usable tread left after 18k miles in use.

I had my heart set on the Primacy MXM4's. They would be a great tire for the car and my particular needs. They're a fine "safe" choice.

The WR-G2 is an outstanding tire, but if you have Hakka Rs on separate wheels for winter, I would lean toward a more 'summer-oriented' tire for the 17-inchers. I've not driven or ridden on eNTYREs but I trust Nokian in general. If you can comfortably afford them---not cheap---go for it.
OK, no question on V-rated tires on a bread-and-butter passenger car---but why 55-series 17s on a car designed for maximum fuel economy?

For your question, 215/55-17 is the OEM size. The wheels that come on the car are very lightweight, lighter than the 16" winter wheels I have. My guess is that Chevy read one too many of Wayne Gerde's posts about taking corners sans brakes, and spec'd a wheel/tire combination that would put up with being flung around a corner at speed. That and they needed a justification to buy that size LRR tire for the Volt, so they upped the order by slapping a bunch on the Cruze Eco.
I wish we got the full Nokian lineup here in N. America. Sadly, they're mostly winter tires only here.

I had the WR G2's(2005 Subaru Legacy turbo wagon) for 47k and a high manhole coupled to a low profile tire(215/45/17) it bubbled/split with a hard hit yet still held air fine. They actually had some wear left(10k ish).
They offered wonderful for an all-season winter traction and incredible wet & slush traction(better than previous top tier pure winter tires used). They were absolutely perfect for our coastal NH weather conditions. Dry handling was decent except in hot conditions was okay(winter biased tread). Another sad truth was our WR G2's with 40k had noticeably(wife/I) better winter traction than 9k old ContiExtreme Contact DWS. Also the WR G2's held their extreme wet traction till the end unlike the Conti DWS which lost that at 35k.
I found them to be relatively quiet tires throughout there life especially compared to current Conti ExtremeContact DWS. The quietest were OEM Bridgestone RE92a's though which offered long wear also but awful wet and winter traction.
One important thing. YOU MUST ROTATE properly otherwise these tires will wear funny and our tire guy said(turn into tractor tires).
Hands down my favorite all-season so far.

Sounds like either would make a decent choice, then. We get a bit of wet weather, and warm weather too.
Depending on the weather conditions in a few years, both cars might get WR G2's as winter tires. Our winters have been trending toward more wet/slushy instead of massive amounts of snow as in decades past.

Should be a more "normal" winter lining up with a moderate El Nino being predicted. I am planning on replacing my fairly worn Continental Wintercontacts this year instead of pushing another season's use. I found a deal on CL for a set of WR's (original design) that are still new in the wrapping for a great price. Should be good for a couple of CO winters.

How old? Rubber hardens over time, and it makes a big difference in cold weather.
