Nissan's CVT, would you buy it?

Call Aamco/Cottman/yellow page transmission shop and ask them to rebuild it. If they can't, avoid that unit.

I know plenty of unhappy VW/Audi owners. Best to trade in vehicle before warranty expires. Sorry, D$G and multitronic will become future owner problem$.

At those prices ...you'll never own a CVT car again. There are few transmissions that get below the $2-3,000 mark. My simple hydraulic 3 speed minivan trans is $1000 for a rebuild ..about 50% less then a factory reman installed. It requires no expertise or fancy equipment.

actually the Xtronic debuted in the Maxima (now the only trans available). i don't know what link, but that makes no sense.

manual mode on a CVT should be a progressive slide lever/joystick allowing one to hold the RPMs at any given part of the powerband they want. Of course, you'd need to know what your powerband looks like on paper for proper usage.
