No amount of dollars will fix the ugly.

I'll bet Nissan knew it was ugly so they added a turbo to make it more appealing.

Regardless of Nissan's motives, its probably the most effective advertising $1.6M can buy.
I forget how Mazda concluded their missing hp issue with the RX-8, I do remember that they weren't as proactive as Nissan is with a trivial issue. Therefore all the free media attention put Mazda in a negative light...

I don't understand the current love affair with ugly. What is it? Honda Crosstour and CRZ, camry , corrolla. I don't get it. American cars didn't have the look for years but things have swung the other way. Now american cars and even hyundai look better then toyotas, honda, nissan.

Japanese cars have rarely looked "good". They are inoffensive but forgettable. This means they age well, though.

Frankly I like the Juke's styling. It looks much better in person.

I must not get it. I think all the cars you mentioned are rather attractive. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Me thinks that you are right, but I bet the other auto manufacturers are saying "bad precedent". You can do this on 1400 cars, but not tens of thousands. People will start to look for other misstatements and ask for cash back.

Fun, but useless 'ute. Cargo volume = 10.5 cuft. What's the point in making this look like a small suv/cuv? I don't get this, nor the Murano CrossCabriolet.

This really is upstanding for Nissan to do. I applaud them.

Juke the modern day gremlin as for design?

GT-R. Another horrible looking vehicle. I've seen multiple ones and people with me never even have a clue to what they are seeing. Overall response each time has been along ... "I thought it was a rigged up nissan".

Uh... let me think about that. The answer isn't immediately obvious. Kinda like asking which smells worse at the zoo, the rhino pen or the elephant pen.

There certainly are a lot of cars out there that I think are totally *****- the Element, XB, Juke, Cube, Soul, XA, Yaris, Prius, Insight, Murano, most Subarus, and Fit, just to name a few. But some of those sell VERY well, so someone must like them. Styling is completely subjective anyway.

Hyundai and Kia both are putting out some good looking vehicles.

It looks like they are pulling the "second place" ideas out of the BMW designers wastebins and putting them on $15k cars.

Co-worker ordered a 2005 Altima. He ordered a very rare combination, a fully loaded V6 with leather.... and a 5 speed.

For some odd reason, ABS was NOT available with the V6 and 5 speed combination. Because of that, he delayed his decision for several weeks, but ordered it anyway.

About two months later, car arrives at the dealership. Salesman notices that the window sticker LISTS ABS on it. They're both surprised. Ray asks them to pull it into the service area to have a mechanic confirm it. Nope, no ABS.

But, since he had ordered it with the knowledge that it wouldn't have ABS, it didn't matter.

He drove it for a little less than 3 years and gets a letter from Nissan. Because of the typo about the ABS on the window sticker, they want to buy it back... for nearly everything that he had paid for it.

Plus, Nissan offers a new 2008 to him at a price that the dealer said was less than dealer cost, with interest free financing.

Ended up that he upgraded from an '05 to an '08 for only a few thousand dollars, ends up with an interest free loan, plus the '08 had Nav as well.

He was happy with Nissan.
