Nippon Filter?

I have a pretty cool filter here. It says NIPPON FILTER on one side, has a bunch of Japanese characters on it, amd says Ultra-8 on the other side. There are TUV, ISO9001,QS9000 markings on top. The case is as thick and heavy as I've seen, and it has sprial center tube. The ADBV is black, but is very shinny and looks to be silicone. The o-ring is round and resembles the Denso filters. I will try to post pics when I can. My question is this Nippon filter the same as "Nippon Denso"? or is this something totally different? does anyone have any clue? lol

I've been using them on my Honda for a few years now. Really well made, yet inexpensive filter.

I think I paid about $3 for it. I'm interested to see what it looks like inside. It seems like it is built like a tank though.

Looks decent on the outside ... what's inside could be something else. Cut 'er open!

Sorry, I didn't take any pics of a cut open one. When it's time to change it, I'll cut it open and take pics. But that'll probably be next year.

"Nippon" just means "Japan" and I don't think that the filters being marketed under than name in the US have anything to do with Nippon Denso. I'm not sure what the country of origin of the Nippon filters is, but it probably isn't Japan

Sorry, those were bad cell phone pictures. lol The filter looks similar to some of those other asian filters. It just has the overall feel of a good filter though, and wonder how the insides look.

Are there are common filters that are made in Japan?

Yea I just got one from Napa today, it looks sorta like the old filtech filter for the HONDAs. Mine has a Silicone ADBV and is really built good, after I use it I will post pics of it CUT OPEN. I put it next to my HONDA aka FRAM Oil filter and it seems much better, it even has more threads. It cost me like 6$

Doesn't look like Denso's torque stop design but the o-ring seal looks familiar.
