As I have said, I like experimenting with different makes of oil, for giggles, and I know you guys (most) like suggesting different oils to users, so here it goes:

I usually use MC FL820S filters, but that's for the filter forum..

I have used mc, m1, ultra, pp.

What else do you think?

QS, Valvoline, Castrol (haven't used Castrol in the past because they hit you over the head with their advertising in NYC), RP, RL (expensive for my taste), anything else?

Wouldn't mind running a 0w-20 fo winter..

OCI's are around 5k..

Thanks!

I'm pretty happy with syntec/bosch on my SUV and going to try Napa filter/Edge next time. On my other car, i put amsoil/K&N filter but going to switch to PU or Edge and also Napa filter.

Edit: Q, how did you like Pennzoil stuff?

For the 1 1/2 years have been using SOPUS products. They keep offering rebates and the their oils have given myself and countless others wonderfull UOA's. I have used their synthetics and conventionals, and have had no surprises with oil use or the oil getting very dirty. The engine runs quiet with them.

Have you done any UOA's? This is a good way to determine what the Mustang likes.

Early in my trucks life I used Valvoline products and it was the only time I had any oil use, although it was minimal. I do use Valvoline Maxlife in my cycle, so no hate issues with Valvoline.

If you can find it I would try PP 0w-20. It would be a great winter oil as well as Mobil 1 0w-20.

Both AZ and PB have oil change deals on Syntec pretty regularly, which brings the cost of the oil down to qt, depending upon what arbitrary value you assign to the oil filter.

Curious...why do you like experimenting and changing oils so much/often?? I would venture to say the 'ol butt dyno doesn't tell you a single thing between oils.

Are you doing UOA's after every one in search for some holy grail?

One thing I've shaken from "my dads generation" is the 3,000 mile oil change, but one thing I can't shake is getting an oil you like/works good and sticking with it.

Like I said though, not hatin...just curious.
