Picked up a brand new F150 4x4 lariat and thought I'd share a pic. Purchased it from Greenway Ford in Orlando, FL. What an easy 1.5 hour transaction! Other dealerships were increasing the price/pressure during negotiations ugh. Came back to one dealer and it went up $2K, NOPE, not going to happen. The price was fair at about $11+K under MSRP and they included a few dealer installed options like the plastic bedliner which is really important on Aluminum Bed pickup trucks, as the soft aluminum bed can be perforated by heavy steel aircraft jacks.
The truck has the FX4 off road package (skid plates and different shocks/height), The Tow Package w/3.73 axle for an 11,600 pound tow rating. The 5.0V8 has the dreaded rubber oil pump drive belt (yay) and the cylinder deactivation system (yay again sarcasm of course). The goal here was to get as conventional a Ford truck as I could. No turbos, no highly stressed small engine, no hybrid setup. Just an American V8 4x4.
This is my 5th new F150, and as always, the reason for staying with Ford remains the amazingly comfortable seats. And of course, the smooth V8. I found the 3.5L EB to be less comfortable on long trips, and always favored the V8 for NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) on long trips.
1998 4.6L V8, 355K miles when sold 16mpg
2009 5.4L V8, 200K miles when totaled recently 13.5mpg (my fav!)
2011 3.5L V6 ecoboost, 150K (company truck) 17-19mpg (87 v 93 octane)
2018 2.7L V6 ecoboost, 90K (company truck) (19mpg)
2024 5.0 V8 New. About 19mpg on the 200 mile trip home.
