For our odyssey brake job, or any brake job…

Hey ya'll. Quick question.

With tool batteries is it best to run them down to 0% before charging them or can I keep them at 100% as often as I want to?

I think the memory thing went away with ni-cads. I charge mine often. I think shorter charge cycles make less heat , and thats better. I don't think there is any need to run them all the way down, like we did with ni-cads.

Ni-cad memory had more to do with being damaged by sitting with little to no charge.

For li-ion it's still best practice to run them down most of the way before recharging. Theoretically a battery only has a certain number of charge cycles in it and this is affected by, say, only using "one bar" and recharging. Supposedly Milwaukee can pull that data out of the battery as it keeps a count of how many times it's been put on a charger.

That said, I have so many batteries and so little time that it's not a huge priority for me. If I know I'll need a battery at full charge, I'll throw it on the charger regardless of state of charge. I've got better things to worry about.

Snap On 12-pc snap ring plier set. $370 which ain't cheap but way better than retail. New, but no case which I didn't want anyway so that was good for me.

These will last me the rest of my life so the price is fine. And I will say the pushbutton system is stupid awesome bomb-diggity amazing x1000. Or something.

I’d do neither.

The wider the range of state of charge, the more stress and strain in battery materials.

Full state of charge also stresses the electrolyte through oxidation.

You’re best keeping them around 20-30% and maybe charging them to 75% when you’re going to need more work.

Once in a while a long stay on a charger may let cells balance a bit which is good.

@Pablo .
Acme thread tail stock feed;
Often times I will drill a hole in my stock on a lathe down the center.
One then uses the feed wheel to advance the stock into the spinning drill bit/chuck.
Electrical gurus how can I easily slow this unit down even more it has variable speed but it's not slow enough. It has a roughly six position slider does that likely have three wires on it that I could substitute a 5k pot in there or a 10K pot maybe maybe a 10K would be better to get more resistance and range speed range of course that is.

Look up a circuit or buy a motor speed controller for a wood router.

Autel Scanner MaxiCOM MK808BT PRO, 2024 OS 11 Full Bidirectional Diagnostic Tool, Newer BT Ver. of MaxiCheck MX900 MK808S MX808S MK808Z, 28+ Reset, OE All Systems Scan 2.0, FCA AutoAuth, Battery Test https://a.co/d/9l3mHGi

Just ordered. Be here Wednesday. Was using Thinkscan but realized quickly that I needed more. Specifically relearn features that Thinkscan charges 30 a year per function and no bidirectional. Impala is kicking my butt as with refurbished ecm came programmed but need to learn throttle and crankshaft. Did crankshaft for the 30 but now I need to spend more as I see the relearn can get expensive. Will be nice to get bidirectional as a bonus.
