New tool thread

You're not going to believe this! I might even make my ACME screw tail-stock feed, out of, get ready, would you believe HARDWOOD!

I think the memory thing went away with ni-cads. I charge mine often. I think shorter charge cycles make less heat , and thats better. I don't think there is any need to run them all the way down, like we did with ni-cads.

ABC with today's batteries=(Always Be Charging!!)

Ni-cad memory had more to do with being damaged by sitting with little to no charge.

For li-ion it's still best practice to run them down most of the way before recharging. Theoretically a battery only has a certain number of charge cycles in it and this is affected by, say, only using "one bar" and recharging. Supposedly Milwaukee can pull that data out of the battery as it keeps a count of how many times it's been put on a charger.

That said, I have so many batteries and so little time that it's not a huge priority for me. If I know I'll need a battery at full charge, I'll throw it on the charger regardless of state of charge. I've got better things to worry about.

Oh!! So Maybe ABC! (Always Be Charging) is not true for power tool LI batteries, IDK now.
I read to be ABC phone batteries at least!

Man, Mine got here quick (for Amazon) I had it in like 2 days!
Let me know how you like the "little guy"! I think it''s really nice for the money!!~
We are the end of the run for deliveries.

FedEx is terrible, twice the truck has rolled in the drive. Guy in back of truck. Banging, clunking, clanging............then leaves. Yesterday I caught him.............nothing for me on truck even though his "system" shows there should be. He says if "I find it, I'll be back".....and "probably on another truck". Then nothing.

UPS is vaporware.

USPS just delivers to the wrong house all the time, every time.

I have a Fair number of 2-4-5-and 6 Ah Dewalt batteries, and TBH, don't use them a whole heck of a lot to worry about it. I know one thing though! One charge seems to last darn near forever and a day!@

The last time I got a new phone, I read things consistent with what D60 had stated. I almost never leave mine charging overnight. The advice I saw was to charge it up to 80% and let it discharge to 20%, for longest battery life.

This seems to be conventional wisdom. That said, I "store" my batts on my wall-mounted chargers 100% of the time. Chargers are always powered. I understand there's a fire risk but I'm less concerned in my steel building (shop). Been doing this with Milwaukee li-ion since at least 2006.

I used to keep some rattle cans on my blue side cab to warm them up as needed in the winter (next to wood stove). I recently reorganized and since any horizontal space is precious, the rattle cans had to go. I had the brilliant epiphany I could get a magnetic can rack and stick 'em to the side of the cab so I still had a "warming area."

I was a bit surprised at the prices of magnetic shelves or racks intended for shop use or aerosol cans and was about to just dust off my box & pan brake when I stumbled on spice racks on Amazon. These are quite nice and $24 for a set of 4
