That’s a sample of one either stripped by the tech or the machine assembler. It would be hard to see on inspection. They will give you a new one. I have the gun metal Craftsman set. There is no screw on that kind or other kinds they make. The screw seems like a pretty good idea rather than a peened on change lever or something, fully and easily replaceable.

Snap-on Thursday today boys. Tons of stuff to spend money on
. The long 1/2 ratchet probably not needed but I had to have it for the color lol. This is not power blue it’s called Metallic Blue I believe is what he said. It’s a new color for 2022. Then metallic blue magnet and a warranty pocket screwdriver. Got some gasket scrapers too as I do tons of gaskets all the time. Never had good scrapers so I’ll be excited to try these. He had green and red and I’m more of a fan of red lol. Picked up 4 pairs of socks as they are back in stock. Then warranty cutters I had a pair from the 70s that was so dull and beat up I figured I’ll just get them replaced rather than trying to sharpen them or anything and the grip was no good so he replaced those for me as well. Then got the 7inch straight jaw locking pliers. Got the 9 inch last time. Also got a coworkers brake caliper compressor warrantied and my boss scan tool updated. They send me to the truck with everything because I’m one of the best customers and get stuff for a good price. Expect to see Snap-on stuff on Thursday now as he moved us to Thursday and the other portion of the shops to Tuesday in order to serve every brand at my shop. Oh yeah and thanks to my coworker for letting me use the top of his box to take a picture of the big ratchet lol.Also had him warranty a socket but it had to be ordered. Would of been two sockets but found out one is from the military days when Snap-on made tools for the military so it is not lifetime warranty so I’m going to hold on to it because it’s cool.
I know I didn’t “need” the ratchet but it will be useful and I’m sure I’ll need it for something especially on something like suspension if you can’t fit an impact in. I swear it’s actually power blue though as I don’t see metallic blue listed on the site anywhere and it’s the same color as my screwdrivers.
+1 FTR the Proto is a nice tool.
One thing about Snap-on, not only is it well made like the flare nut broaching, but you can always sell it on ebay for a good portion of the original cost. Maybe all or more than the original cost, as they keep raising prices. Warranty replacement Gearwrench Spark Plug socket. It’s a 5/8 the previous one the boot would not stay and kept falling out. Emailed and asked if it was covered they said absolutely and sent me another one. Waited about two weeks. And this one is made in Taiwan maybe they went back to there instead of China again.
I picked up these vintage Craftsman tools this morning at a local pawn shop for $5.00 each. They were laying in a basket with a bunch of cheapo ratchets and sockets.
The ratchet is similar to one that I have that belonged to my Wife’s Grandfather except this one has the quick release button. The ratcheting action is still great on this one as well and the breaker bar is in great shape.
With just a little cleaning, they’re looking good.
I like these vintage Craftsman tools, the new stuff just doesn’t come close to being as well made.

Brake spoon for drum brakes. Probably not needed in todays day and age but it was given to me so I’m not complaining. Normally I just use a flat head when I do drum brakes but I like this. I also ordered some brake tools which I will post pictures of when they arrive I got a brake caliper file, the Lang ratcheting caliper compressor and the Lisle gun type one.
I’m an original owner of both of those Craftsman tools. They’ve held up well.
Your grandfather bought well.
Those are great ratchets. I have a couple.
Does it have an oil port on top of the head?
Yes, it does have the oil port. I really like the solid feel of these old Craftsman ratchets.

. Seems every job nowadays requires some special tool.I got this 1/2 ratchet on ebay not long ago. Not much money, not rare, but I like the old style. Wright still makes something like this but without the gear cover. The chrome is over plenty of marks and gouges. This has 30 teeth on the gear.

The similar 1/2" that my Wife's Grandfather owned is in the drawer in the background in the first picture (3rd 1/2" ratchet from the top left corner) and it has the “butterfly” or “Flying V” switch, I’ve heard it called both. “Flying V” seems more appropriate and I believe is the correct term. Those were produced between 1959 and the mid-1960's if I'm not mistaken. It served him well and it still serves me well to this day.
For 5 bucks each, I wasn't going to pass on these two pieces that I got lucky enough to find today. They'll serve me just as well and will serve my Son well when he gets them. Cheers!
