New tool thread

What's the story on the TEQ tools? Are they being discontinued? Are they made in Taiwan?
They are being phased out for DieHard who will also be made by Apex tool group. They are having everything on sale for it to go and it’s cheap. Most of the stuff is China made however things like the extensions and older stock sockets and ratchets are Taiwan made. Everything else is China.

Will Diehard tools be sold next to Craftsman tools?
I’m not sure. I’d say the quality is about the same. I’m sure they will be pricier than Craftsman with them being sold at an auto parts store. They had one DieHard wrench at this location a 13mm for $7.99. I paid I think $11.99 for my DieHard 3/4 wrench last week.

I've been curious about the M12 wet/dry vac, but not enough to buy it. More than that I need more 6.0 batteries for my shop, but prices are kinda high right now ($80 to $120 new or about $70 new secondary market)

So when I stumbled upon the 0960 vac with "free" 6.0 it was a great way to get another 6.0 and a tool I wanted for $129 at HD

I'm actually impressed with the vac for 12 volts

Read this tool may be needed to replace heater hoses on the 2004 Lincoln Navigator.

Tool was not expensive, but not having it might be costly.

I cant say that I have ever successfully disconnected a heater hose with that tool. I usually either grab the ears of the retainer with pliers to pull the hose off or use an appropriately sized internal disconnect tool.

Been to another Advance Auto again lol 😂. This one is right next to my work. Those swivel sockets will be great for tightening the ground on my dads truck starter and also getting things that you need a swivel for. 3/8-3/4. They are SAE so they will be in the home box to use on his truck and my old domestic stuff. The ratchets dad wanted because they reminded him of the old Sears ones back in the 80s. Unfortunately they didn’t have a 1/4 inch one as that is the one he is missing from his toolset. The two sockets I bought for work. I have an 8mm deep in the cart and box but the one in the cart is peeling chrome and it cut me so I’m retiring it to home and taking this one to work. The 24 is part of my 3/8 set I have a 24mm shallow 3/8 just not a deep. I figured good to have never know when you will need a 24 and can’t fit a 1/2 one in. The L-Shaped torx will come in handy for dash work. I have a Tekton set at work so these will be for home. Then two ratchet wrenches to fill gaps in my set. I know I’ll put the 11mm to good use on my beetle lol. Both of those will be going to work to complete my metric Gearwrench set. I think the only ones I’m missing now is 9 and 19 and 20.

I wanted to go to AutoZone and get some stuff but I decided I have spent enough money today on tools and soap lol 😂. So I said I’ll wait till next weekend or this week sometime after work as I pass two on the way home.

I have no idea. I read on a Ford truck forum how much a pain to remove the heater hose at the firewall, and this tool eased the pain. The tool was under $20, so thought was worth having on hand as I rebuild the 2004 Lincoln Navigator.

My big concern is remembering I have the tool if it is ever needed.....

Snap-on Tuesday today. My favorite day of the week. Got the last pocket pry bar. Everyone was grabbing them left and right so all that was left was orange LOL. But that’s ok as everyone knows I have lots of orange. Also picked up a set of metric flare nut wrenches as well. I believe Snap-on does them best. I figured on those buy once, cry once.

Those are one thing thats worth it! They don't open up like cheaper wrenches!

I liked the look of these "demolition screwdrivers" in store and didn't feel $13 for the pair was unreasonable. Finally a straight blade I can hammer on and not worry about breaking the handle ;)

I've wanted the RA impact since it came out but standard retail of ~$250 is dumb (edit: $200 is closer to retail right now). I was able to get it delivered to my door for $141 with the Buy More Save More "hack". I also picked up the M18 router for the same price as a gift -- I refuse to work with wood, the only "routers" I use are end mills in a vertical mill!!

Snap-on Thursday today showed up twice this week lol. Got a small set of cutters, pocket screwdriver and a 5.5mm deep socket to go on the rail in the cart. And also I got looking at my receipt from last time and realized he didn’t charge me for the pry bar so I had him add that too. Remember honesty is important and that’s one of the things I’m known for is being honest so I wasn’t going to ruin it here.
