Snap-on Thursday today. Picked up a hammer and a miniature set of regular pliers. Too bad he didn’t have the power blue yet it’s the new color and looks sweet. But I’ll eventually get some more tools that are that color. Oh yeah and he threw in a shirt I’ll post a picture of that when I get home.

I like those pliers.
Yes me too. I actually specifically bought them yesterday for a Ford truck with a plastic drain plug the exhaust was in the way and it was too tight to get by hand so so stuck these little things on it and got it. They are 4.5 inches probably the best $30 I spent haha. Now I know they will be asked to borrow because the quick lube guys get those trucks in all the time. I’m sure they will be handy for other things as well.

Not to be an arse but that will have a very hard time with bigger nuts. I tried them over the years and threw them away and never bothered with them again until I got this one, hydraulic with 5 tons of cutting power and up to 7/8 or 22mm. If you have a chance to get one, you will be more than satisfied.
I got it from Prime Tools in the UK but it seems they no longer sell it but others do.

Snap-on Thursday today. My favorite day of the week for that reason lol. Got a long 1/4 ratchet I’m sure it will come in handy especially for cars with drain plugs right next to the exhaust or sway bar. And other stuff too. Also purchased the miniature 6 inch needle nose pliers. Then he gave everyone in the shop a hat (except the lube tech who told him he would never touch a Snap-on tool because it’s overpriced) you could pick this one or a black and white one with some shamrock looking things on the bill I chose this one. Next week I plan to get the master rethreading kit if he has it. I wanted it this week but he didn’t have it. I’m just glad we have a great Snap-on guy. And he always gives discounts on stuff too.

Excellent tool buys for the long haul. You help the snap on guy make a living, the truck maker for a truck sale, and snap on to keep making tools. Plus get tools for life and career.

Absolutely. His wife and son each run a truck too. And while I was on the truck his son called and said he just wrecked his so I was glad that I help him out in case he has to pay for anything out of his pocket. Plus I like nice tools. Just get tired of the other guy saying stuff to me about buying them but I just ignore him.

I was looking for a low profile 3/8 ratchet. I had this bookmarked and was toying with going with Snap On, but the cost was around 2.5+ times as much. I shot my buddy @Trav an email and went with this instead. I'm sure it will be fine.

Would that be the same guy who keeps borrowing your tools because he can't find his own?
Nah that is the other new guy. That guy finally got his own but was borrowing my stuff beforehand. I’m glad he has his own stuff now. The other guy who is borrowing only buys Snap-on but all his tools are in Florida where he just moved from.

That's OK Trav, once again it is a matter of pro mechanic vs shade tree mechanic like me. I might not even use this thing. By the way, I believe in 2018 you endorsed the tool I I just purchased. Here is a shot of your post.

Something wrong there, no mechanic I know is leaving all his tools behind if he intends on working, what kind of place are they running here, hiring mechanics with no tools?
They are only doing it because we don’t have the man power, yesterday I was the only one there in my franchise which is Subaru. He was off because he got in a car accident the day before. He moved up here as spare of the moment he said and hasn’t found anyway to get his box up here. His wife works there too and they share one vehicle so if one is off the other is off it can be bad but at least I’ve got a helper. And the other new guy who finally got tools they let go today at the end of his shift because he was a no call no show yesterday and just missed two weeks because he said he had the virus but yet didn’t bring a doctors note. He wasn’t really good for anything anyway it takes him about 2 hours to change oil and rotate tires. I hope they get more decent people. I wish I was kidding but I’m not. I did have to set some rules in place because he was putting stuff in my box covered in oil and slamming the box shut making everything I have standing up fall down. Now that the issue is corrected it’s not so bad but still bad enough. The good news is the dealership sells Matco and let him use a box until he can get his up here but he has to furnish the tools.

I did and still do within reason. It will work fine smaller to mid size nuts eg 10-15mm, much more than that it will struggle. I understood (maybe incorrectly) this was primarily for tie rod nuts.

Hopefully it will work. The thickness of the tie rod nut on my 3/4 ton is thinner than some of others I’ve seen The K Tool opens to 25 mm and my nut, confirmed with an open end wrench is 22 mm. Having said that it would be cool to track down an American supplier of the hydraulic one and check out the price. :)

Let us know how it goes. The problem I had with that style was not being able to hold onto it while applying a lot of turning force, you end up trying to hold the tool with a wrench.
The tie rod lock nuts may be hardened, check them with a file first, if the file barely puts a mark in it with a single swipe of the file it is hardened and going to be more difficult to cut and may damage the cutting edge. With the K tool you can probably get replacements.
