What type of tool fits this fastener?

I received these today but was supposed to get cat food??? JK - I ordered when @GON started this thread because a tool I don't have?? Well, that just won't stand.

Congrats on the new tool.

How you would do better than me, in a short time I would have forgotten I had that tool, and repurchased.

Awesome post!

Haha. I ran into the same thing a month ago on dad’s aluminum utility trailer.

I wonder why this style head is so popular with trailers. You’d think Torx would yield the same result?

Lots and lots of XZN on VW/Audi/Porsche vehicles.
I can image. I mated the mechanical side of a door lock actuator from a Jetta to the electronics of my Porsche since the small switch that slightly lowers the window when you close the door was worn out. I believe it was held on to the door frame by triple square bolts. The OEM Porsche replacement was extremely expensive. The aftermarket VW version was $25.

I bought a set for my son's GTI a few years ago, used it once, and he wrecked the car (avoiding a coyote in the road). We're an all-Japanese car family now (Toy, Honda, Infiniti, Subaru), so it's not likely they'll see use any more.
