1 foot of snow in a 3500 lb wrangler in 2WD?

Well.. I guess i shouldn't question it. One guy here said I didnt need my Jeep for Indiana country living winters and that his Asian sedan could go through the same amount of snow my lifted Grand Cherokee could. Lol.

I am considering BFG's for my Jeep next though. I like the looks, but question how long they'd last.

Those cooper AT3's above were recently track-trail tested by a 4x4 mag as the best of the bunch for a variety of surfaces, excluding mud. dont recall which one.

I was looking at duratrac's for my truck but the tire guy said he does get noise complaints on them after a year. He suggested cooper RTX for a lot less $ and I bit. Been happy with them for commuting, medium towing (4-5k lb) and mild terrain.

The K02's look great but if you filter out tire lust there are some negatives with it. Weigh your options.

good luck,
M

A 4.0L TJ has a rear biased weight distribution.

It'd definitely be interesting to see.

My 'rents old JK Rubicon was pretty worthless in snow in 2WD.. Both rear wheels would turn and make the Jeep hop to one side. Most definitely could have been the mud tires though.

I friend of mine is on his 3rd set and got over 100,000 miles on the first 2 sets of Wardens. I went more agressive with the Guard Dogs on my Montero and am please but only have about 15,000 miles of very mixed driving. Drove it this summer 800 miles in 90+ degree heat and they held up fine.

These tires dont seem to be that much cheaper than other namebrands.

The "stability control" on the JK rubicon made it dangerous to drive in 2WD in slippery conditions. If you hit something like a snow drift and the front wheels would lose speed, it would start playing with the brakes and around it goes.

But they're better. The TW Kedge Grip tires are superb. They are maybe 85-90% as good as running studded snows on ice, with none of the downsides.

Got my Treadwrights for $90 each delivered. Add in the $60 install and total was less than $450. Could touch anything similar for less than $900 so half price was great in my eyes.
