First, posted in the Continental Tire rebate program thread. These are the 235/35-19 Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02s that I ordered as part of the program. Then, I started the thread about having them mounted and balanced at Discount Tire, at which, I had a very good experience with. Wrapped it all up with this thread. Thanks for playing along
DWS 06+s are my other set that these replace for the warmer months. Not that it gets really cold here, but many nights and mornings under 40F, so summer tires don't do so well. You nailed it, the DWS are great tires except for the soft sidewalls. Makes for a comfy ride, but not super direct with transient response.

Well, seeing that the Sport 02s are a 35 aspect ratio, and the sidewall is only about a half inch shorter that the 40 aspect ratio DWSs I use, there really isn't much vertical difference, so you'd think they would be close in stiffness. However, when the the 02s were mounted, you could see the sidewall was much thicker in cross section compared to the DWSs and that increases the stiffness. The part of the mounting machine that holds the sidewall down as the tire was guided onto the wheel really has to apply quite a bit of force because those sidewalls are so stiff. The sidewalls of the DWSs are floppy fishes in comparison, but momma prefers the ride of these on her Tig. She no Speed Racer

Yeah, i keep DWS 4psi over what they should be. Still so so. Going fast through curve doesn’t offer any feedback and steering is mushy. Colorado is difficult bcs. changing weather. I run snows November-April.
Way better in my experience. I am on my third set of the Conti extreme contact 02s on my 01 BMW 540 M-Sport. I had two sets of DWS and could never get over the vague on center feeling. The steering felt numb.
Yeah, same experience with DWS.
I tried cranking up the air pressures, which helped a little. But the solution was different tires...and I prefer the better grip of summer tires in dry and wet anyway. We rarely get snow where I am.
The snow is not an issue as I run snow tires. It is several months of very wild weather after and before winter. June, July, and August are usually excellent for summer tires. I mean, I have two other cars. Will probably just get 02 or PS4S next spring.
