My uncle has a Craftsman LT1000 lawn tractor that blew the engine. The seal on the bottom of the crankshaft went and all the oil leaked out. I replaced the engine with a brand new Briggs and Stratton 15.5 hp engine. My only question is what kind of break in procedure should I do oil-wise? It has super tech 10w30 in it now, and has about 1 or 2 hours of run time.

I know he probably won't change the oil in it or keep track of the hours. I have some Rotella T 15w40 HDEO to go in it after I dump the super tech. How long should I keep the super tech in there? Does it matter? I was planning to mow with it a few times and then get it back to him but my grass isn't growing.

My B@S manual said 5 hours on the first oil change. 50 hours or 1 year after that.

Whew!!! Gawd bless you my man.

That new Briggs had to be pretty darn near what that whole machine cost new!
