New Purolator LX4967 Cut Open

The glue maybe just a infrequent manufacturing issue that (may) have been corrected.

you never know if you got one of these filters.. and some guys have cut them open after use and think they are good to go.. who knows what it looked like before use, but they are on this forum and YouTube saying something like .. "looks great"

looks good, no reason not to use this filter ...
The junk black glue that sheds in use is definitely a reason not to use these ... same issue seen in many Motorcraft oil filters. Is M+H using some old roofing tar they bought up cheap or something, lol.

And besides, if anyone is interested in efficiency, Purolator told me a couple months ago the Gold 20K is the same 99% @ 46u as the Boss.

The glue material itself is junk ... it doesn't stick and stay no matter what, like the filters that use the harder cream colored glue.

Grabbed one of my Purolator one filters PL 14615, , sawed it open, it looked good, no sloppy glue anywhere and was bonded very well to end plates (caps) , ,the pleats nicely spaced , and were hard to tear by hand and even pliers, silicone drain back valve nice and pliable, with a nice fit, relief valve worked nice and smooth when pressing on it firmly, , Is this a overreaction being played out here? I personally examined it very carefully, nice and sturdy construction and apparently well made.

Post up some pics and the date code please. We track the good and the bad to establish a track record.

And to see the color of glue used on the Purolator ONE ... might not be the junky black glue.

Reactions: GW.
The Boss uses the very robust cream colored glue, probably for the synthetic media - LINK
If Purolator was smart they would use this on all their oil filters.

Just FYI, instead of going through the bundle process online, just add the filter and oil you want to the cart and it should add the bundle discount at checkout page
Wow, I could've sworn I tried that but poof. I'd did exactly as you suggested & it does show the discounted bundle price. Thanks!
