I have for your amusement a FoMoCo AA6E-6714-AB oil filter dissection. This is the engine OEM oil filter off of my recently purchased 2024 Ford Ranger with the 2.3L Ecoboost engine. Filter was only in service for approximately 700 ish miles before the factory 5W-30 oil and this filter was replaced with a Motorcraft FL2114 oil filter Mobil Full Synthetic 5W-30 oil.

Filter appears to be the standard construction Purolator made oil filter same as the Motorcraft FL-910S. Things of note was the excess glue particles in the filter side pleats and also the metal cap end with the bypass valve just came off with no force in hand. Filter media on that end did not look compromised and am sure it still filtered regardless. Centertube louvers seemed well open and no issues there.

Some excess glue (we'd like not to see that) but still looks good. The metal end cap popping off isn’t really an issue in service as its purpose was just to hold the potting glue in place to dry. Decent looking filter IMO.

Whats the difference between the FoMoCo & the Motorcraft you replaced it with? Rangers & Bronco's have really exploded in popularity. Filter could be better quality. Thanks

other than the end cap popping off, it looks like M+H may be ironing out some of the “bugs”. looks very good other other than the cap.

Motorcraft FL2114 was a alternate oil filter they put out in 2021 briefly as a supply substitute due to COVID shortages of them getting Purolator made FL-910S. Basically is a Champion Labs Ecore. Motorcraft FL2123 has superseded that as a alternate to the FL-910S. Difference between the FL2114 and FL2123 is the latter has a silicone ADBV. I got a case of the FL2114 for cheap.

That's been going on with the "Motorcraft" branded versions too. I stop using them on my Coyote because of that excess glue that comes off easily. If that went through the bypass valve it could cause issues in the oiling system.
