This past month of March has been a very sad and tragic one for our friends.
3 have passed away due to accidents and cancer.
It's hard to keep positive when you see such young and beautiful people loose their lives to these things that have been all to common. Tragic accidents and cancer.
The other thing which happened to another friend of mine was a stroke. At first it was suspected he had a brain tumor but now the doctors belive it was a stroke.
Getting over 50 sure sucks!!
Everyone enjoy every day like it's your last. Be good to your family and friends.....you never know when it might be the last time you will see them.

Yea, at the age of 61, I have seen many, many friends and relatives pass away. Its just that time of life.

Don, I feel your pain. My fiancee's mother passed away this week. Only 53 yrs old. I took off the whole week. It's been very tough. My uncle also has lung/liver cancer. Smoked his whole life. He is on Chemo, but his chances are very slim.

Being 50 doesn't suck. If you smoke, eat supermarket junk etc you are taking a 'walk on the wildside'. Accidents can't be helped but filling your body with poison can. I lost both my parents to smoking, alcohol, supermarket food etc. Tried to help them but who listens to their offspring? Hope your life improves Don...s

Just curious what you mean about supermarket food? I don't know if it's different where you live but in the US supermarkets are the only places you can get food.

Sorry for taking the post off topic.

And you are right Don about always being kind to your friends and family. I've lost a few people I wasnt on good terms with before they died.

My moms lifelong friend, who was single all her life and finally got engaged at the age of 50, dropped her current life and moved to a different state with her fiance. She has little savings and was truely happy with him. Just this weekend, in the middle of the night, he had a coughing fit which woke her up, and he died in her arms, while she was trying to snap him out of it. The man wasnt even sick but caught the cold that morning. Still unsure of the exact details of what exactly killed him, but I can't even imagine how she must be feeling right now, alone in a different state with little savings and no friends.

In the US supermarkets are the only places you can get food?? You couldn't be more wrong. the U.S has fantastc farmers marketsin every state. real food everywhere, it's just not found in supermarkets. Fruit and vegetables kept in rooms full of gas for 18mths. That's not what your body needs. Check this site for real food in your area. Oh and don't forget anything marked USDA Organic is NOT organic. No time to explain here.

You have to realize that you don't have control over everything (if anything). Some realize these things sooner than others.

Timly topic. My Dad died 4 years ago today. He was 96. He was planning to live to 100. Didn't quite make, but he gave it a good try.

Living long, like my dad has it's own issues. He outlived all his peers and most of his family. I'm getting to the same place. I've outlived most of my peers. More then half of my high school graduating class are gone. Although my wife is 10 years my junior, I'll probably outlive her, and there is a fair chance that I'll outlive my 2 oldest sons.

Don, we grieve for your loss, just don't forget, everyone dies. Grieving is good, then move on.

sprintman, they DID give McDonalds a Heart foundation endorsement.

Don, we had a bad last year. Hang in and you'll weather it through. Hope things pick up.

I can't speak for the rest of the world, but in my case it is simply a matter of good genes. My oldest son and I have researched our genealogy back to the early 1700's in northern France. There is always at least one person in every generation who lives beyond 90 years. I expect My sister, brother and myself to do as well. My wife and her family don't fare nearly as well. Her line seldom live beyond 70. Time will tell of course, but our past predicts our future.
