I checked and they show it on their M1 product list but they don't show a PDS yet. Not that a PDS would show it but I hope the zinc level is at least 1200 PPM. If so, I think they'll have a winner like they did before they screwed up the additive package in the previous version. I don't think the fact that it meets SM affects its ZDDP levels due to it being a XW-50 viscosity grade.
Let me get this straight, they are reintroducing the oil they produced before the EP product introduced a few years ago? I am not sure how to read into this.
As some here know, I had fantastic turbo car results on the OLD 15-50, but less so with the EP. I am having all sorts of valve train problems with the EP. Maybe a fluke, but maybe not. I had decided to change to the V twin 20-50 for the extra ZDDP.

You're not the only one.
I too am a long time Mobil 1 15W-50 user in my small collection of Alfa Romeos. I have seen a slight increase in oil consumption (up from zero) since the introduction of the EP version.
Yes, it will be SL rated, according to the Mobil 1 website. They also mention higher levels of ZDDP.
Now to find out if this is the same as the OLD stuff that was so darn good.

Well...it's says right on their website:
This is a new Mobil 1 15W-50 formulation and is not the same as the product that was marketed a few years ago.
In any event, their product line is now a complete mess. The EP line should of been their SM/GF-4 offering...a synthetic for the average newer car with long drain capability.
They could of then created a High Performance line that would of covered highly modified flat tappet pushrod pig iron engines and other older engines with similar design issues. Pull out all the VIIs they added to the EP line and get the HTHS back up where it use to be relative to the kinematic viscosity.
Oh, I took that to mean that the stuff is not the same as the EP. Now I see. Too bad.

For the first time, Mobil confirms what I said way, way back when Mobil 1 SuperSyn was introduced. Mobil tried to insinuate that "SuperSyn" was a total additive package. I said they were just using their new SuperSyn high vis/high VI base oils. And it appears now that's probably when they started using some Group III, too.

We've had 5w50 Mobil 1 in Canada for at least a year now.
If you want the old Mobil 1 15W-50, nearly every Sears around me has it on the shelf. Give Sears a try. I think that most K-marts around here have it too.
