I received my Fram HP17 oil filter today. can anyone decipher the date code? 16174AB3 00:33 Product of the US

16 174 Possibly the 174th day of 2016? (June 22, 2016) AB might mean Albion, IL 3 might mean third shift, especially since 00:33 likely means about a half hour past midnight. Looks like a Champ design, Champ base plate and slotted center tube, made in Albion, IL

Correct ... except the 1 is not part of the date code. Fram just uses "6" for 2016 in this case.

I see HP17 does not have the screen over bypass.

This is due to the small size of that filter canister.
