New firearm day! Taurus TX22

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Veridian RFX11 is significantly overpriced at about $200.
It's shake awake...which is ok but everything else is auto adjust like brightness. And a lot of the reviews complain about having to remove the sight to replace the battery...plus, the optic frame is plastic of some sort. It wouldn't be my choice if I had to add a red dot separately. But again, for the price of the package and assuming it holds up better than the first one, I'm good with it.
Yea, I use it because it's free and the TX22 is around range toy and NOT relied on for self defense.

My Shield Plus has a Cyelee catpro thats been reliable through nearly 2000 rounds so far

Bought the Gen 2 Taurus TX22 TORO from KYGUNCO for $334 plus $25 FFL fees at my local dealer.

Came with 2x 22 round mags and 3x 16 round mags, plus a pretty cheap viridian green dot optic.

Took it home today to clean and lube and install the optic. Will buy ammo in the morning and head to the range for its first outting tomorrow!

this is my first .22lr so any advice on ammo, or anything else would be welcome!

Add rimfire muffler for more smiles. Most quality ones can be had for under 1000.00 after taxes, tariffs, etc.

Got the the new warranty replacement RFX11 the other day and mounted it on the TX22 TORO and sighted in as best I could with a laser bore sighter yesterday. It came with all of the stuff that was originally in the TX22 case except for a lens cloth...don't care about that. Seems to work perfectly. Will have it to the range tomorrow to see. Also bought a big can of WD40 dry lube spray for the magazines and will work on the magazines tonight. Polished the feed ramp and slide guides a little... nothing aggressive just shiny. Can't hurt.

2 cents of mine: :)

There is a internet "reviewer" who keeps ripping Taurus in a big way.
Guy is clueless and his "reviews" border on fraud as I never experineced even once what he calls "normal" with the brand despite owning multiple taurus pistols and shooting them a LOT. (more in a single season than most police officers shoot their entire 30 yr careers)

Maybe together 20,000 rounds through my various Taurus Pistols.

With one exception mine are all the compacts (PT111 G2, G2C, G3C all basically the same gun with minor updates) with none of the "it shakes itself apart in 100 rds" nonsense that guy posts.

Also and perhaps most importantly; I find the ergonomics superior to my old M9 issue sidearm, my old Glock 19, my S&W M&P9 and to my current issue sidearm, M17/Sig P320.
While those all felt more "service grade", the Taurus ergonomics just seem so superior making for faster, more intuitive shots.

Based on my experience, Taurus ergonomics are just superior for a normal sized hand on an adult western male.

You will have many years of enjoyment with your firearm.

Its part of an "outdoor" channel on MSNBC "the avidoutdoorsman"

"these guns rattle like a toolbox after 100 rounds" about the G2C" is what raised my eyebrow.

Interestingly and prompted by your reply I did some more digging, and perhaps I was too harsh on him, the G3C which is essentially the same gun, which improved slide finish and supposedly improved trigger ( though I found little difference and I own both) got postive comments from him:
https://theavidoutdoorsman.com/7-budget-friendly-guns-that-still-get-the-job-done/

Even so perhaps my orginal post should not have been as harsh on him as it was, perhaps I am a bit guilty of what I implictly accused him of, judging by a headline..
I am frustrated by this influencer culture that makes negative headlines on targets in the expectation of more clicks.
This tends to reinforce group think for things like cars, guns etc.

No. You were likely accurate with your original post.
Making outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing a life priority is great../but it certainly doesn't make one a handgun expert. In fact, the line of Taurus guns he touches on wouldn't be first choice guns for most serious hunters, backpackers...wasn't the intent of the design.
Plus, as you pointed out, there are hundreds, if not thousands of firearm content creators on YouTube, some that know their stuff, most that don't.
Sounds like you are a cop. I was one too. I'd take handgun opinions and experience from a cop over almost all YouTube warriors.

Shot about 200 rounds today at the range with the TX22 with the replacement Verification green dot. Hard to tell if my hillbilly laser bore sight in was on point as we shot at the 25 yard range.
It seems ok though. Be better at the 15.
The $35 Feyachi RDS36 red dot kicked tail on ,y Ruger 20/22. I couldn't miss with my new tree at 25...these steel trees and .22 are awesome together. It was pouring rain on/off but shoot it ,y son is always a great time...and an extended Father's Day gift.

10 - 20 yards with the tx22 today. Aeound 300 rounds with less than 10 malfunctions and they were all with one magazine. The other 4 were flawless
