As I have heard.

Not to mention the test is performed to oil at room temp. NOT at operating temp, so really the test is useless.

Amsoil is very good stuff though.

I am not knocking the quality of Amsoil as it is a well formulated oil . Just that Amsoil writes its literature for people who really do not understand oil. You can look at all those numbers and get no advantage from Amsoil when you change it before its time. $9.00 per qt oil and your car will last just as long as with $2.00 per qt oil. I just do not get it.

I just don't think I could put my oil past 6k, regardless of what kind of oil I put in. If I could afford Amsoil, it would be in my car right now.

Being a car nut, I'll spend the extra money on my "babies"....


Granted, I'll be running that Napa syn in my cars, so I guess that will make me feel even better....

So, the darlings are now Synpower (synthetic) and YB (conventional)?

I'd use YB if it weren't the most expensive conventional out there. I've used it before, no complaints.

The test is designed for testing grease, not motor oil. Even though most oil companies use it to test grease and other machine lubricants, apparently only Amsoil makes claims that it has any relevance as a test of motor oil inside an internal combustion engine.

So is MPG increases, no matter how minute. It's impossible to increase fuel efficiency (around here).
So is the foreign oil thing .
You mean like GC? Or ACEA? I go with ACEA A3 primarily because it tells me the HTHS is minimum 3.5.

Too bad Maxlife Synthetic is so scarce as I bet it beats out Synpower on the dubious 4-ball test.

Next time I want to use motor oil in an application calling for grease, Amsoil will be my first choice.
