I also called PG for efficiency but techline was closed. Eastern time….

It’s not a dead ringer for PG but at least 4 of the components appear to be PG to me. That coupled with AAP already using PG as a source and I’m comfortable declaring it a PG. Or Pentius haha.

Efficiency would be nice.

Is the black seal gasket silicon ? Looks to be nitrile . You'd think a $16.99 oil filter would get the orange silicon gasket like that of the CARQUEST Premium @ $9.99 .

it's nitrile but they soak them in Italian hydgrogenated salad dressing. .. so they are good for a longer haul.

I may actually use one of these if I ever use up my Baldwin B33's! The biggest difference here is my Baldwins only filter out the bird nests and small pebbles because that is the Toyota specs. I would guess you won't be disappointed with the media on that filter once you find it. I doubt they would build a filter of such quality and use a cheap media. Just sayin.

True, but compared to the few other filters with 100% synthetic meshed backed …Amsoil…Royal Purple…Fram Endurance…

Use filters with nitrile . Currently O.E.M. Hyundai / Kia . I use CALIFORNIA Olive Ranch 100% California Extra Virgin olive oil for the seal gasket . You'd expect a silicon gasket at the cost of $16.99 .

GM and BMW would run filters out to 15k with their every other oil change filter replacement. They weren’t using silicone adbv’s and sealing gaskets.

Here's a chart of the properties of various rubber compounds. You'll see that nitrile, especially HNBR, is superior in every way to silicone in both the physical and chemical properties that are important to an oil filter base gasket. Oh, yea, the HNBR is also more expensive than silicone.

An argument can be made that the wider temperature range of silicone would be better for the ADBV. On the other hand, we've seen silicon ADBVs, with its poor physical properties, damaged by the inlet holes.

HBNR has SUPERIOR tensile and tear strength.
