Hey everyone,

I just got a new 2006 Hyundai Accent GLS and need some advice. At what point can I switch over to synthetic oil? Does the engine need a break-in period with the dino 5-20(30) it has in it from the dealership? I know this engine would probably be just fine with conventional oil but why not treat the best I can. Also, after putting the synthetic in, assuming primarily highway miles, can I go the manufacturers recommended 7500mi between drains. Thanks.

If you want to finish breaking it in with the factory oil, then you could change it anywhere from 1K to 3K even up to 5K (depends on how anal you are about keeping the factory stuff in). You're perfectly fine running syn 7500, especially if that's the manufacturers recommendation, and the fact that it's mostly highway makes it even that much more feasible. Pick a good syn and...live long and prosper
