One of the louvered filters from this thread: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/louvers-again-amsoil-eao-filters.356961/post-6206708

Customer Service came through with immediate replacements, but never asked for the old filters back or sent a postage-paid label for them, so I cut one. The downward-facing louvers looked surprisingly okayish. There were two identical ADBVs stacked under the baseplate; not sure if that's a feature or a bug. The baseplate and can were both very heavy and stout. I counted 37 pleats.

A closer look at the media; about 34 x 3 inches or 102+ inches of area. It was fairly easy to peel some of the media away; I can't tell if that means it's double layer or just single layer that I tore apart.

The second picture, the adbv looks like it is sliced in a circumference.

There are no cuts in the silicone, it looks to be a shadow. Out of curiosity I cut the other filter and it had one ADBV. No way to tell that there are one or two from the outside that I can see without opening it up.

Nothing whatsoever wrong with those louvers. Light down the center tube is the ultimate proof. Also, comparison to linked uncut OF and those this thread, shows that louver pics down of uncut OF, no light down centertube, can be and 'imo' in my observation, often are deceptive. And this fact true, always more louvers per area of centertube than holes. Nice of Amsoil not to require return.

Thanks for follow up pics, especially those light down centertube. (y)

It was fun to chop up a new one at no cost to myself. I sent the double-ADBV photo to CS and they asked me to send them in, so off to Wisconsin they go.

I had 2 defective EAO 80 filters that Amsoil promptly replaced after seeing the lot numbers. Great customer service.

With 2 ADBV’s would that filter even be able to have any flow? I guess now days changing any filter is a roll of the dice. Guess I’ll just stay with OEM since they warranty the filter and the vehicle.

From the photos in post #8, it looks like there would be enough room between the ADBV and the end cap to still lift the ADBVs open if two were stacked. There is not a photo of the two ADBVs stacked together though, so a photo from the side with both ADBVs installed would be helpful.

If there wasn't enough room there, then a stack of two ADBVs could choke the oil flow path. If that happened, the oil filter couldn't even go into bypass, and if the flow was really choked it would cause the oil pump to hit pressure relief and potentially starve the engine of oil flow.

Two ADBVs would increase the delta-p across the oil filter a bit even if the flow wasn't effected.

Wow, that is simply unacceptable from a premium priced filter. Lucky to not have ran that, I would ask for a refund and go buy a fram ultra/titanium.

Wow, very unfortunate to see yet another QC defect. I'd also report this to AMSOIL. @Pablo

So is Amsoil aware of this or not?

If not I will report it.

What is date code of filter?
^^^ He already said he contacted Customer Service.
