Lots of quality C&P of these models lately, but I wanted to see them for myself (and for my entertainment).

- Carquest Premium 84502, Vietnam; 54 pleats 0.5 inches x 3.25 inches, 175.5 sq. inches of media area.
- Microgard Select MSL10255, China; 57 pleats 0.5 inches x 3.25 inches, 185.25 sq. inches of media area.
- Fram Endurance FE10575, USA; 38 pleats.

The Fram was almost identical to the Amsoil EaO17 I cut in this thread: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/new-amsoil-eao17-c-p.359396/post-6226807 (except for the double ADBV).

Some observations:

I can't quantify it, but it feels like the synthetic layer of the Microgard is much thicker than of the Carquest.

The Carquest's ADBV was stiffer, almost plasticky compared to the others (but still quite flexible compared to a nitrile ADBV).

The Fram's leaf spring was perfectly flat where it counted (but it did have the nibs to wedge it into the endcap).

The Microgard's baseplate, endcaps, center tube, and coil spring were thicker and heavier than the Carquest's, which were almost delicate by comparison. The Carquest's machining was much finer.

Plenty of glue in the Microgard, but not excessive. The Carquest's potting was more sparing, but adequate.

The Endurance leaf springs still looks to have a few ripples in it on the "sealing" surface, but not as bad as some Fram and Champ Lab leaf springs seen over the last few months. The Endurance date code looks like the 61st day of 2023, so fairly old filter.

Very nice c&p’s, thank you. I must say that’s the first China Microgard Select I seen and it’s slightly different than the ones I’ve cut open. Normally they look like the Vietnam Carquest Premium here.

The Endurance looks like it’s typical hot mess. Sloppy glue, ruffles(not nearly as bad as we’ve seen). Did you happen to light test for leakage?

Depending on price two of the three, CQ and the MG/MSL, could be an option for me. Because of the bypass piece seal area issues seen, the FE a no go here. And it's a shame really, because with its coo and full syn media one could justify the extra cost.

Thanks for the detailed c&p. Nicely done.

Are these filters comparable or not comparable (Meaning for the same application)? I like the media on the Select & that signature PG base plate on the Carquest. The better media on the Select shouldn't need to be as thick as cellulose on Carquest Premium. Thanks for posting these triple c&p's.

24061AF, always hard to get a picture of the printing on these. There was a visual imprint of ripples on the leaf spring, but to the touch there was no feeling of any unevenness there. (Not that I'm going to be buying any more of them).

I didn't do a light test, no.

Yes, they all cross to the PF63 / PH10575 size filter.

Thanks for those details. Sometimes members post several c&p inside one thread & it's nice to know if we can "Compare" them equally for the application. Makes putting them all in one post an even better idea too.
