I just bought a left over 2010 Dodge Ram (4.7L) with 2700+ miles. I have read that its normal for the OLM to indicate the first oil change at around 2500 miles. How do I know the Dealership changed the oil versus just resetting it? Should I go ahead and change it just in case? PS Build date was November 2009.

I'm always of the "change early, change often" school of thought when it comes to break-in. Couldn't hurt to change it... probably won't hurt to leave it either.

How do you like the ride of the multi-link rear suspension in that truck? I've put in a lot of miles in an 08 Ram 1500/4.7/545RFE combo and love it, even with the old-school leaf springs. And the power boost (> 70HP increase) between 07 and 08 *really* upped the game of the 4.7 so that is now comparable to the GM 5.3. Before that it was pretty anemic, even compared to the old 5.2 which had more torque at the low end.

You don't know if the dealer changed the oil or if it is the FF. If it is the FF it is over a year old. Dealers start and idle vehicles on the lot quite often and start them to move things around too so it has a lot of idle time on it. IMO change the oil and filter.

Oil with 2700 miles on it should not be as clean as fresh oil even in a new vehicle, so you should be able to tell. Or when in doubt change it out!

Good luck with the new ride!

To tell the truth I didnt intend to buy the truck (was going to get another F150) but they made me a deal I couldnt pass up. I got:
30% Off MSRP.
0% APR for 72 Months.
No Doc Fee.
Free Bedliner (already in truck).
Free Bug Shield (already on truck).
Free Gap Insurance.
Free 36 Month Maintenance.
1 Extra Free Cleanup (I bought it on a nasty day).

I may not use the maintenance but we were still $200 apart and I dont like to lose. After 14 months I think they were ready to move it.

The truck rides well on dips and small bumps. Large square edge bumps can be a bit harsh. I think its the fact the tires cant move rearward. I checked the pressures and they are at the recommended pressure per door jamb.

PS On second thought I think I will take back to the dealer and have him change it.
