Yes, I realize there is a search feature but I don't have time to wade through a million previous post. I know that some of you here are much more knowledgeable about specific oils, so I need recommendations for two cars:

2008 Honda Civic LX: Approx 5000 mile intervals, using the OLM
2000 Acura Integra LS: 7500 mile intervals currently using M1 5w30

So what type of oil would you recommend for these cars? I use synthetic, so any recommends for syn would be good.

Not too concerned about the civic, since it will be maintained by myself using factory filters. Just looking for a quality syn oil recommendation.

The Integra, on the other hand, is driven by a friend out of state. Factory filter is used on this car as well. Looking for something robust that will hold up to 7500 intervals of mostly highway driving, some stop and go.

Most of the synthetic oils are about the same, contrary to the nitpicking that you see on here.

I still agree with Steve that any 5w-20 conventional oil in the Civic and 5w30 for the Integra should work fine. Remember that the drain intervals on the Integra were not validated using API SM engine oil, so the current conventional oils should allow for a huge safety factor.

For the Integra, try some Havoline DS or Valvoline. My UOAs came back excellent with them. Had plenty of TBN left after 4,300 miles with the Havoline DS. Could've went 7,500 miles. If you want a Syn, I like Havoline Synthetic (not sure where to find it anymore, got mine at Big Lots a year ago for $3/quart), Amsoil and Pennzoil Platinum. The B18B1 is very easy on oil, it could do the 7,500 with conventional no problem. Here are my UOA's: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubb...true#Post973168

4,300 miles was with the Havoline DS, mostly highway, and the shorter run was with Valvoline conventional.

In your climate, 5w-20 syn is advisable in winters for the 08. Pennzoil Platinum has AWESOME cold specs, if you feel there is need for that feature. The 5w30 is good for the 00 Intergra as well.

That being said, arguing for non-synths is reasonable as well. The call there, imo, would be Havoline DS 5w-20 in the 08 and MaxLife 5w30 in the 00. I'd rather have the dino and changed a lil more often myself, but I'm sure you could sort through it all yourself. Those are the oils I like for Hondas.

I have a 98 and an 07 to service as well, so I'm in a similar boat, just that I'm working off of oils I already have at home...and believe me there is a better selection than many stores right in my back room...I mean "vault".

Just trying to gleam the best info here, because the 08 is driven by my girlfriend who has a lead foot, even when the engine is cold. So Penz Platinum offers good cold flow?

My gut is that 7500 seems a bit long for M1, any objections to that theory?

Not in an Integra it isn't. Although I'd personally prefer not to use Mobil 1 in my car because I've seen other Integras show high Iron readings when using it.

So maybe time to switch to Penz Platinum or Amsoil?
