Need a starter for the Jeep

I've never had an issue with new starters/alternators from autozone.

Starter-in-valley predates Northstar at Toyota. The first of the SC and LS cars had this in their V8.

I assumed with a Jeep, DENSO parts were probably not available, but they are!

Denso starters are used on some V8 Jeeps as OEM, but not a 98 Wrangler.

Denso starters for a 1998 Jeep 4.0 are going to be either re-mans or china-made junk if sold as "new." DO NOT BUY. Been there, discovered that- Denso is as guilty as everyone else of selling some really terrible aftermarket products for applications where they weren't the OEM. The OE starter is a Mitsubishi planetary gear reduction starter. The best option if you can't get a local rebuild is to find a source of that particular starter new.
