Need a higher viscosity oil than 5w30 that keeps rings clean

That’s not true for all cars. When I take my Corvette out for a long highway drive in the winter the oil and coolant temperatures will stay below 180F. That same type of drive on a hot summer day gives me oil and coolant temperature of around 200-210F.
Is it a dry sump engine?
I have a friend who has C6 Z06 (I guess) which is dry sump and he doesn't drive it in the winter because the oil cannot get up to temp.

Reason being I assume that the rings are free and clean now and that normal wear is where the oil is going now. Hence looking for a thicker oil.

She had to take her daughter to the children's hospital for the entire week! Before they left I did something I normally don't do. I overfilled the sump by 1/2 qt. Figure it will burn it off into the safe zone.
That was a good move!

Mine is the 7 quart wet sump setup. The dry sump holds 10 quarts so it takes even longer to warm up in the cold and some guys say it’s a struggle getting the oil to 170 in extreme cold
