Yeah, I noticed that the number of ST filters at the nearby Walmart is dwindling as well. There were actually more Motorcraft filters. I did notice that the newer ST filters come in a different box and different color (blue instead of black)... still looks to be made by Champion Labs however.

I was ****** to walk into my wal mart tonight and find almost all of the ST filters gone. The shelves are a sea of orange.

I like using the cheap ST filters on my wifes 98 Cavalier with 100,000 K along with the ST high milage oil.

I opened up a fram box and the filter just looked like complete ****.

I wouldn't put this piece of junk on my lawn mower if it had a filter. So I walked out and didn't buy anything. I guess they are going to all Fram. Its a shame.

Go to the service desk and ask for the automotive/sports supervisor, you can tell that person that you are a regular buyer of that ST filter, walmart bases their inventory on what sells (everybody must be buying fram) however, if you request it they might stock it.

I keep wondering what I will run to if the ST 3950 ever disappears. Chances are if Champ loses the ST 3950, they might find the STP 3950 uneconomical to produce. I am sure my truck would be better off with a smaller ST such as the 3593A than a PH 3950. I could also hope to find somebody stocking the FL 403.

Pep Boys and Advance Auto don't seem to stock the Purolator L 10193.

Went to WM with my son for some top up oil for his Neon. Pretty young girl, a fellow Jeep owner, was looking for filters and whatnot. A BITOG dream come true

. I redirected her from the orange can of doom for her jeep (a TJ) and offered her the MC filter. She picked up one for her father ..he had an older jeep with a 13/16-16 thread (which I didn't know since the WM filter Xref thingy was dead). That she had to get a Fram

. I wonder why she didn't have a boyfriend doing that stuff for her. Perhaps dad is still taking care of the fleet

It is getting harder and harder to find the ST and MC filters. They're still there ..but that orange wall makes them invisible to most people.

Maybe they never renewed thier contract for ST with Champ labs? WM is known for jumping ships to save a penny. They may have gotten a better deal from Fram, after all Champ is a competitor and Fram wants to win the discount store filter wars.

I went and looked in the SC here, same thing, very few of the ST's. I never used them but I was picking up some paint rollers and thought I would see what was here. Lots and lots of Fram's, some MC, K&N.

While I was in my local Wally's looking for the mythical 5-quart jug of M1 5W-20, I also noticed that they were out of MC FL-820S filters...I began to jones uncontrollably and had to be gently led out of the store by my wife...at least the shelf tag was still there, so I guess (hope) they'll be getting more in.

Must...buy...ten...more...

Went to walmart today and noticed the trend here as well.. Not very many ST's left on the shelf

I dont use them myself, but its a shame to see the fram taking up more shelf space where ST's use to be.

Same here in northeast ohio.
at most 1ft or so of shelf space for ST
and 10ft for fram maybe more.
Same thing on the motorcraft.

Luckily advance auto has purolators for 2.40
so its not the end of the world.

Aside from periodic outages of one part number or another, my local Wally's seems to have a fair selection of ST and Motorcraft (although much smaller than it was a few years ago), along with the new Autolite (FRAM) brand...of course, the Orange Wall of Doom overwhelms everything, but at least I can still get my fix of ST 3600 and MC FL-820S filters...WOOT!

Why can't this happen to me when I go to Walmart ??

Some Walmarts only carry Fram, because they make more profit selling the orange can.

So are just about every other brand of oil filter. If you go to a place that actually sells car parts you'll usually find a full assortment of quality filters.

Wal-mart only sells one brand because most people don't care about oil filters, and other then Fram they aren't marketed. Without marketing people don't have a preference.

Not only are they out of filters, they quit making maxximum nutrition dog food in the 40 lb bag, stopped selling equate shaving cream[although they make the same stuff in a can for women, but I cant bring myself to shave with it] and stopped selling guns altogether.I used to love waly world, but am slowly starting to think they both suck and blow simultaneously. They wouldnt sell albums with questionable lyrics, but they will sell any movie uncensored and FHM magazine.HYPOCTRITES!Death to the coprate masters[in the financial sense of course]Next they will only stock the items that are approved for us.Rant ceased!!!

It's amazing to me the differences in Wal-Mart stores. I was in Wal-Mart last night and, in addition to the sea of orange Fram filters, they had the full selection of Motorcraft filters and just about all the Super-Tech filters were in the new purty blue boxes. (I bought a few for my clunkers) In addition to that, they had about 5-6 different numbers of MOPAR filters. Now I never have used a MOPAR filter, but I'm sure they have a few new happy customers. This store was in a town of about 3500 people.

Reporting in from NW Ohio...I travel a good bit and used to stop in Wallyworlds wherever I went searching for the elusive $1.38 quart of TropArtic 5w30. After the Trop disappeared, I noticed the same thing with ST and Motorcraft oil filters. Less and less shelf space dedicated to those brands. All the while, the sea of orange continued to grow. I miss the TropArtic, ST's and Motorcrafts (in my size at least).

While we're bashing Wally's, has anyone noticed that the persentage of goods produced in China on Wally's shelves has steadily increased? Not that all Chinese products are junk, they make some the of best SW radios going. It's just that Wally's used to be the "American" brand department store. No longer. I'm shopping at Meijer more and more these days for general items and AA for the oil & filters.
