Had some roadside BBQ.
Went inside. When I have to pay for it I let others do the work.
It looked nice enough inside but it was a beautiful day so we opted for outside seating and eating.
Various BBQ sauces, including a horseradish-based one.

The fig and wild berry were excellent
I also tasted Nonna's cake (like the sweet filling) and the mascarpone - if I even got a kiddie cup of those I would have ended up homeless.

I stopped by Gherkins. You have to be a surfer or a pilot to get served.
There's a gherkins jar with 8-inch pickled gherkins on the counter.
Decided to eat healthily and ordered the chef salad with double chicken and double Swiss. They let you choose two meats and two cheeses. I opted for Italian dressing on the side. I got a shoebox stuffed with salad. For scale, I included my phone in the picture.
I stared digging and found a variety of things.
I could barely finish half and had to take the leftover home.
While the salad was huge I fell prey to the Westcoaster sandwich and ate half of that. Grilled chicken, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onions, gherkins.
The sewage plant has been put on notice!

Cheat day?A little $10 corndog at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.
The coating started slipping and the sausage came out after the first bite.
No. I don't do cheat days. Cheat days are dumb.* I allow myself an occasional garbage food.
A "proper" cheat day will set you back one week.

I indulged in fast food. A burrito with grilled chicken from a gas station/Mexican joint in the countryside. 3 minutes after placing the order the burrito arrived at the table.

I just noticed that my corn dog picture has disappeared from IMGU and the image link in the corn dog post a couple of posts up in the thread is broken.. That happens sometimes. Uploading to IMGUR is also frequently wonky and may not work for an hour or so.

I’m always looking for a good taqueria. Where’s this place? It sort of looks like that place right off of hwy 1 in Moss Beach.
@Gebrekkend , this at is the combined gas station/market at the blinking red light intersection in Pescadero. They have outdoor seating in the back.

I think I’ve eaten there once. I used to take my dog to the Pescadero Creek area fairly frequently.
Also, when we went to Santa Cruz last year, we took the coastal route. Great Highway - Skyline blvd - Hwy 1 all the way to the boardwalk. Might do that again later this year.
Skyline, 35, then 9 to Santa Cruz is also a nice route.
