My wife's 2012 Mazda CX-9 served us pretty well . Faithful and reliable . Hit from behind yesterday afternoon . Totaled . :( She sustained a fractured ankle and a possible torn rotator cuff .

Good to hear your wife is okay. It's amazing that an accident like this in an early 90s vehicle would have likely been way different. Was your wife stopped at a red light? Looks like a big vehicle hit.

Be VERY diligent to get every ache and pain thoroughly examined and documented. Do not ignore anything. My wife was in a similar accident about 18 years ago and what initially seemed to be minimal injuries turned into lifelong severe disabilities.

Beyond the physical injuries, the mental anxiety and stress can become overwhelming, especially after things settle down a bit. Seek and follow excellent medical advice, both physical and mental.

Document, document, document everything for possible future medical, insurance, or legal challenges. Been there, done that.

My thoughts and prayers are with you both for a good outcome.

Yikes. Glad she is OK.Hope you put in a lawsuit and get a brand new car.

What doitmyself said!! In 1968 my fiance and I were rear ended. We did get checked out but weeks later we both had sore necks fo a while. Lucky we got over them. Don't sign off on anything.

Glad she is not hurt any worse than she is. I will say, those rotor cuff tears are a son of a gun.

My brothers and I would argue about who got to sit in the foldaway rear-facing jumper seats in the back of our dad's sky blue Chevy Impala station wagon.

try explaining to a 16 y.o. leaded gas, and having her unbuckled grandma holding baby Uncle in her lap in a car full of maroon velour, while grandpa masters the arm stop as he slams on the brakes.

those were the days!

I can empathize. My wife's accident over a year ago totaled my truck and her foot. She's just now walking short distances.

Allstate gave me just over half what my truck was worth. Would not budge. Also continued to take truck premiums from my checking account for 5 months. Refunded 1 month.

I hope your wife recovers fully, and the insurance companies make you whole. Neither happened in my case, despite great effort on my part and my lawyers part.

Consider a larger and stronger vehicle. It can save lives. My F150 certainly saved her life.

Sorry to hear about her ankle and rotator cuff. Glad the vehicle did its job to protect her. It hurts when a good vehicle is ruined like this, but she’s ok and that’s the most important thing.

Ouch. Did she hit a car in front of her too or just the rear end accident? Fortunately cars can be replaced.

Glad your wife wasn't hurt worse too.
I wonder if she was hit by a texter.
This happened to my mom and a school chum.
I often leave room ahead of me at red lights.
I've deluded myself into thinking that I'll have the presence of mind to turn out of the lane if I see someone bearing down on me
