This happened in the net loft at the cannery that he fishes for. They flew him to a hospital in Anchorage, AK. Looks like he is going to get plates put in his face. Some big guy that was drunk came up to him and started beating on him. I don't really know too much details.

Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks Pat

Yet another reason why working in the fishing industry in Alaska is dangerous. Hope he recovers well.

Best of luck, prayers for a full recovery.

Sorry to hear that. Big drunk? Ugh. That's terrible. Here's to a speedy recovery.

Prayers for your brother and "best wishes" to you and other family members who share the stress of this.

Television somewhat glorifies violence and makes us numb to it, but in reality it is very, very ugly.

Take care.

Is this guy getting charged, or is this getting 'swept under the rug'?

I'm sorry to hear this happened...I just really hope there is justice for your brother, but there probably won't be.

I generally don't watch "reality" TV shows -- who needs semi-scripted [censored] when true reality on the History or Discovery Channels is so much more entertaining? But I recall flipping channels past some reality show a year ago featuring Alaskan cops maintaining law and order in the outback, and for some reason a few comments by a cop in the otherwise unmemorable episode stuck with me, comments to the effect of (paraphrasing), "These fishing crews get back to port, and when it's paycheck time, the alcohol begins to flow, and our calls predictably come in like clockwork....(commercial) fisherman + paychecks = alcohol, trouble and police."

Thanks guys. I talked to him today and he seems halfway lucid. He is supposed to have an appointment Monday to get his face/surgery dealt with.
The guy is in jail. I'm sure he will press charges.

That really sucks. I hope he has a quick recovery.

You can be minding your own business one minute and the next minute be a victim of a serious crime. I know a doctor that carries a gun everywhere he goes, even to the hospital. He wont wait for security or the police to arrive.

That fatass drunk should be glad your bro wasn't carrying. Dang that sucks. I've heard such stories....

Anyway, hope and pray for a full recovery. Anything you need neighbor, let me know.
