Musk Says Tesla ‘Dug Our Own Grave’ With The Cybertruck

Went to Tesla Fremont yesterday to pick up my new Model 3. Cybertruck had tons of interest. Some huge group of European tourists was taking turns taking photos with them and test driving or something. And there was one in the delivery prep area so I guess someone bought one. I do see plenty of CTs around the area. Teslas in general, despite the constant bad press, are everywhere here in the Bay Area. It feels like you can pull up to a red light and half the vehicles are Teslas.

As for the range extender, it makes sense to cancel it. A dumb option/product from day one IMO. Eventually we'll see a Cybertruck with an Extended Range battery pack... there is supposedly plenty of space there. But the smaller battery it has is part of the reason why the driving dynamics of the Cybertruck are so much better than other EV trucks like the Sierra EV. It just weighs a lot less. Ideal for towing long distances? No, but ICE trucks will rule that segment for a long time, and realistically, most people don't do over 200 miles of highway towing a day.

The Standard Range Sierra EV (~120kWh) is massively lighter than the Max Range one you drove. Not only is the battery about 95kWh smaller, but the suspension and other components are scaled down and lighter because they don’t need to support of the bigger ~180kWh Extended Range and ~215kWh Max Range packs.

I have friends that own Tesla and they won’t own anymore after they get rid of vehicle once times comes.
That explains those Tesla’s in Bay area.

huge groups of tourists crowd around the golden gate bridge and take pictures too, dont mean they are buying

OMG, I am not that dense, I understand they are not buying a dozen Cybertrucks. You can't exactly stuff it in a suitcase! But clearly people are interested in the vehicle if they are taking the time to go see it/be driven in it/test drive it, while traveling to the US. Let's say you came to San Francisco for a week, came from somewhere in Europe where they don't have/sell Cybertrucks, why not go check it out? I would!

OK, but two things:
1. Drive for an hour and you will see at least a few "Highland" Model 3s and if you pay enough attention you'll even see at least one "Juniper" Model Y in the same time. Keep in mind these are new models bought recently.
2. Used cars. Just because you trade in your Tesla EV for something else (GM has even publicly stated that a huge percentage of trade-ins on their EVs are Teslas) don't mean those cars are scrapped. They are simply sold as used cars and someone else drives it for another 10 years. So it'll still be on the road.

Our local mall is used as a Cybertruck storage overflow. Anyone who goes to the mall is a tourist to see all the unsold Cybertrucks.

There is a area 30-40 minutes from me that literally has 10,000 ram trucks sitting in a farmers field . 2 months ago maybe 3 or so thousand .
