This was a dealer change, so may/may not be motorcraft 5w-20. Filter appeared to be a Motorcraft FL820-S. Oil sample was taken with the engine COLD, not warm/hot.

Oil/Filter replaced with 0w-20 Mobil1 and a Motorcraft FL-820S. (Will see the change next UOA)

As always, all other Mazda6i and Mazda6s UOA's are available at...

Patman,

I think its cause some people are tired of seeing another Mazda6 UOA everyweek

.

The whole farking community is addicted to UOA's now. Most of the last 5 or so, have all been originals!

This weekend we've got a 6s MTX modified running at VIR (Virginia International Raceway)...

And he's running Mobil1 0w-20 SuperSyn with a K&N HP2010.

I already made him promise to do a UOA, so we'll finally have track miles on the 0w-20 to see how it holds up.

Not me, I think it's awesome how you convinced these guys to get into doing UOAs, and it's nice to see so many good reports with this engine and both M1 0w20 and Motorcraft 5w20.

Hang on, I gotta first put my flak vest and helmet on against the "incoming" from the "thickerer is betterer" crowd

. ANOTHER really good report with that "weak oil water" called Motorcraft 5W-20, I'm shocked, utterly shocked

. It's nice to see Moly in the Motorcraft 5W-20 now. It's interesting to see how with the newer engines that specify using 5W-20, the UOA's are really good. I hope to get a good 5,000 mile run on the Motorcraft 5W-20 this spring/summer in my 4.6L V-8 truck and do an UOA to see how it holds up through the summer heat.

Just felt the need to add a "yay" and a quick note ... there are two Mazda (Duratech-based) engines spewing out all these awesome reports with Mobil 1 0W20 and sundry non-syn 5W20 oils - and the other one is the 4-cylinder 2.3l

So the statement above should read "... nice to see so many good reports with these engines and both M1 0w20 and Motorcraft 5w20."

Thanks for all the tips and notes, folks!

I'm still in with the "thicker is better crowd". These are newer oils and we still need some more time before the jury, at least my jury, reaches its verdict.

I wouldn't say that. There have been more than a few very good (dare I say excellent?) UOA from Ford modular v-8s.

Umm - sure.

I merely meant that, in the context of the Mazda 6, "this engine" should be replaced by "these engines"

I realize this engine is still new, but Fe=20 after 4500 mi is a good report? What am I missing?
