Motor oil prices going back up?

Yet Lubes'N'Greases report that motor oil manufacturers charge high prices "because they can" and not for any other reason. The normal market conditions favor lower oil prices.

Yes prices are on their way up:

-Chevron announced a 6%-9% increase on the price of their lubes and greases that will be effective 9/14/09
-ExxonMobil announced a 5%-7% increase on their lubes and greases with the exception of Mobil 1 products. The increase will be in effect 9/15/09

Private label oils have not announced an increase yet but you can expect them to soon.

Lube Report - Finished Lube Prices Spike

They can call it what ever they want, its just another friggin excuse to raise prices.

I don't know about everyone else. But when I see news like this it makes me want to buy up all the $5 AR PP I can. While the oil companies are still giving out free money.

Better hurry...Prices will be going up....I think walmart starts very soon....

Better be ready for 30 buck jugs of oil.....

Synthetic motor oils tend to be pretty stable in pricing and most will not be effected by this price increase. For example, Mobil 1 motor oils will not move price but all the conventional motor oils, greases etc will be going up from the major oil companies.

My gut says everything is going up this time....

Knowing that cars that will need synthetic are around the corner (Chevy Cruze, for example), why not get the nice people ready?

Maybe not right now, but soon.

I'm betting the regular 5qt jugs hit 26 bucks (goodbye, rollback), by the end of next month.....

Due to all the money the government is handing out to banks it is de-valueing the US Dollar. China and France are starting to diversify the currencies they back and are looking for a 2nd competitor. Austrailian currency is one front runner.

Im actually beginning to think the American dream is ending. The golden age is over. We spent too much and now we will be under burden to pay it off for so long that we will lose our ability to be THE world power.
I even saw a article about the discussion of a Value Added tax on products because our tax/debt ratio is so huge they NEED more taxes to prevent the value of the dollar from falling off a cliff.

I guess this means I need to go buy $9.50 jugs of Supertech and stock up while I can.

Seriously, it's almost starting to seem like this is ardently their mission in life. Kind of like the WHO and CDC who desperately seem to be trying to make a "flu" pandemic out of circumstances that just dont seem to be cooperating with them. It really makes you wonder!
