I'm really impressed by Motorcraft oils: nearly every UOA shows very decent results. If to consider its price, I would guess they offer one of the best price/quality ratio. May be, Havoline/Chevron only can rival. So, it's very interesting what's exactly used in the US as Motocraft 5W-20/5W-30. I ask because I never saw somebody specified the types of Motorcraft 5W-20/5W-30 oils in UOA: Full Synthetic or Premium Synthetic Blend:

If to look at MSDS, we will find their base stock compositions are very similar and this makes difficult to understand, besides marketing reasons, why one is positionned as Full Synthetic and another one as Premium Synthetic Blend. Or is there only one grade in the US ?

Also interesting how you position Motocraft 5W-20/5W-30 vs. Havoline Energy 5W-20/5W-30.

Thank you in advance for your inputs.

I'd guess that 99% of the UOA's on MotorCraft oil are using the MotorCraft Semi-Synthetic oil and not their "full" synthetic oil. The semi-synthetic MotorCraft oil is fairly easy to locate on store shelves here in the U.S., while I've never seen the MotorCraft synthetic oil on any store shelves. My

I'm using MC now. I like the high boron they are using much like the new Amsoil SM oils. bruce said good things about it so it must be good stuff. 5qt jug is only $10. Hard to beat...

Great UOA's with Motorcraft 5w-20 in the Taurus, high iron with their 5w-30 in my Sport Trac. The 4.0 SOHC apparently puts out a lot of iron regardless, but Mobil 1 got it down pretty good.

Well, I have seen the MotorCraft Full Synthetic with my own eyes. It was on the shelves of Murrays Auto Parts Stores throughout Michigan, Ohio and Illinois. It has not made its way into my shopping cart - just yet.
