Walmart sells a lemon eucalyptus bug repellent that works well for me. Forget the name but easily available and no DEET content. Some folks think DEET causes health problems.

I use 2 bug lights rated for 2.5 acres a piece and a smaller 1 acre rated light. They’ll get so bad the lights need blown out daily, but will eventually slow down.
Mosquitos seem territorial or have a very small range.. The moment I leave the yard and go into the woods, it’s game over man. Deer and horse flies on the other hand will follow a vehicle up the driveway and swarm it.
This is the second year I have used two bug lights called Dynatrap 3’s. They’ll collect a hopper of mosquitoes in a couple days. Last year they seemed very effective at reducing and minimizing the local population of blood suckers. This year however the population exploded in a very very short time due to some rain and flooding patterns just a couple weeks ago and it seems the lanterns can’t keep up with the exponential numbers. I’ve been emptying the hoppers regularly, so I know they’ll do the job eventually-but I’m considering spraying to help knock them back to manageable numbers.

Repel or Cutter?
I think it is Repel, I have a bottle in the door of my truck. It is a yellow liquid in a clear bottle with a green label sold in the camping section. It has a weird cooling sensation when you use it. It is similar to icy hot but with more cool than hot.
I just read that it is 45% ethanol, I guess that explains the cooling effect.

We get them way bad. True they don’t have much range so locate the standing water. For me it’s a culvert that holds water long after the ditch drains. Couple 3” tabs borrowed from the pool supplies and they are not happy trying to hatch in that. I use a propane fogger to hammer them in shady sheds (they like to chill out of the wind) … and pre treatment of those sanctuaries with malathion ~ beyond that, some Off and citronella … both the plants and candles …
I have several bug zappers positioned strategically but they get plugged VERY quick.
Got tired of unplugging and taking them down to the shop and blowing them out with the shop compressor.
I ended buy a bunch of computer dust sprayers and leave them near the zappers and blow them out every evening before the bugs hit. One can lasts a long time for one zapper.
