More older trucks at work today.

You can incent EVs, Hydrogen, Hybrid all you want, but where old vehicles don't die, you'll never get to your clean(er) air goals.
And the other practise of supplying gliders for Class 8 trucks is another "what are they thinking".
I was a fleet truck buyer for Class 3 to Class 8 trucks from 1995 to 2016 so I do understand emissions control systems and the painful changes through the years.

It won't be that way much longer. Soon you'll see "30% of all air pollution comes from 4% of the vehicles" - - -
with the remaining air pollution coming from forest fires and blowing in across the ocean from China and India.

Gliders are a very, very small population of trucks.
Banning them would be unnecessarily stupid - - just like banning 2-stroke weed-eaters in California.
An extreme minority of low-population offenders drives statistics down easily.

80/20 I mentioned was just for autos.
If gliders are so insignificant, why have them at all?

Reminds me of my 68 Ford truck with the 390 that got stolen years ago. Could change lifters on it without pulling the intake. Aggravating to clock the distributor right. Usually took me a couple stabs to get it right.

True. Those trucks are common out here, back East they're in a field or a junkyard rusted away.
In Ohio, I might see something like either of these trucks one time in a week. Certainly not on a daily basis. On those Chevys, isn't it common for the panels to rust away along their bottom edges or seams ? That's what I tend to see if one of them come along. The quarter-panel gently sways in the breeze as they drive.

Today's trucks are more reliable, tow more, haul more, more power, ride better, safer, better fuel economy, and if a radio manual windows, a bench seat is too much for you then u guess you can find a model T pick up. Good luck on keeping that on the road.

And they still make a work truck series … I came close to getting one as a starting point and add my own touch
(and still like the 4WD shifter) … but strangely enough the WT had way too much chrome for my taste …

If you can get it to pass smog(if it's post-1976), sure. I've seen older square body Fords and OBS GMs around in the Bay Area still.

I saw a clean late-80s GMC 3+3 duallie the other day ago, it was painted in Caltrans Orange - it was a former work truck for them.
