I agree Al. I find it funny to hear Bernanke and Paulson talk about inflation expectations and actions taken to curb oil prices, especially on a day when stock market futures were triple digits in the red pre-market. More plunge protection team strategy?
In any case, I'm willing to bet that we will not see a strong dollar or positive REAL rates for a good long time. The U.S. needs inflation to get us out of this sub-prime mess and to stimulate exports. In the mean time, they will talk a good game about how they care about a strong dollar and commodity inflation so the inmates don't riot.
