Moog still a good choice?

Is moog (problem solver line not the economy line) still a good choice for ball joints tie rods etc. I’ve been hearing mixed reviews, some people love them, other people have failures right out of the box or a few hundred miles later. My mechanic recommended moog but a lot of people on forums say it isn't good. I know they outsourced some production to China but there are still some made in the USA, at least some of the parts for my car (4runner) is
 
Moog sway bar links for my application had zerks, a nice feature.
However, the list of random quality companies includes Moog.
I went with Lemforder, a German supplier to the industry.

I have used them without any problems and wouldn't hesitate using them again.

I just had a shop replace both upper and lower ball joints and both inner and outer tie rods and I'm starting to feel some loose parts down there. Mainly when going up or down a bump slowly where it makes the truck rock back and forth you can feel it. I just had these parts put on maybe 5 or 6000 miles ago.

Thread 'Rock Auto and "Moog" parts'

Changing a bunch of suspension parts on wife's 07 Sonata. It's been a while since I've used Rock Auto. I decided to go with Moog parts which included 2 lower ball joints. Both came in Moog packaging but one is some other generic brand. One looks like a Moog ball joint with castle nut and whole in the threading for a cotter pin. It also has the greasable fitting. The other a rougher looking casting, a completely different animal with one of those nuts that have plastic in them for locking (are they called plastic locknuts? not sure) and no grease fitting . The writing on the top flat part...

Thread 'are moog suspension parts all the same?'

Is there only 1 level of quality when it comes to Moog suspension parts? I mean, is the alignment shop gonna have the same part that i go to the parts store and get. Some manufacturers have different levels of quality. Just wondered about MOOG?

Thread 'Moog suspension parts - quality??'

Has anyone used Moog suspension parts? im looking to get a pair of trailing arm bushings and front lower control arms.

Im really concerned about how well the bushings will hold up. Oem is the way to go but considering the moog lower control arm is only 70 compared to 250+ for oem, i wouldnt mind giving it a try if the bushings are acceptable.

If you've had experience with MOOG aftermarket suspension parts, please share! Thank you.
it's going on my 01 acura integra with 155k miles. The rubber bushings are still good for now but i do see some surface cracks. I say it's held up well for...

Thread 'Moog vs Mevotech?'

Looking for some discussion on some of the commonly available aftermarket replacement parts out there, specifically the Moog CK series (aka Problem Solver) vs the Mevotech TTX line. Is either a worthy replacement for OE when needed? Is either actually better than the other? If you have to have context, lets say on either of my F150's which I plan to run indefinitely at this time. About 2-3x per year they see fire trail and two track but nothing hardcore or really offroad.

I had to order sway bar links again for my daughters Elantra after the Mevotech 'Supremes' started 'clunking' after less than 50K.
I ordered MOOG Problem Solvers this time and they are noticeably heavier/stronger than the similarly priced Mevotechs…. As an added bonus...the MOOG's
are Made in Mexico...the Mevotech's are Made in China. Needless to say....No more Mevotech anything for me...

Thread 'Moog, Raybestos or Driveworks Front End Parts'

So, about 10 or so years ago, I began collecting parts to eventually rebuild the front end on my 1990 F150. Most of the parts are Driveworks parts from Advance Auto parts with the exception of the springs and the caster camber bushings. These are Moog parts. There might be one or two Duralast parts in the mix as well.

I didn't give it much thought until years later that buying the Driveworks parts might not have been the best thing to do.

I want to move forward and install the Driveworks parts, but I think I might sleep better with Moog or Raybestos.

Thread 'Tie-Rod Brands? AcDelco, B&A, Mevotech, MOOG'

My car needs new tie-rod ends. Not sure which brand to look at. Other than OEM, looking for a quality after market. Anybody try AcDelco, Beck&Arnley, MOOG, Mevotech joints on there cars and have any good luck with a particular one? All are within a $10 difference between them...not sure who to choose or who to avoid?

Thread 'MOOG vs. NAPA ball joints'

I'm considering doing ball joints and have MOOG and NAPA chassis parts available. They are of slightly different design and was wondering if anyone has any input as to which is more durable.

The shop I work at primarily uses MOOG, but lately we've had some issues with boots tearing and seen some ball joints wear out in 6 months time- to clarify, we didn't install them (customer installed), but did notice they were defective.

Thread 'Which brand of tie rods to get?'

My Mazda 3 definitely needs inner tie rods and I will also change the outer ones as well, since they are all original ant near 180k miles.
Not sure if I want to go OEM as I don't know how much longer I will keep the car, but another year or so is definitely in the cards.

Rock auto lists the usual, Moog, Mevotech, AC Delco, Beck/Arnley. It also has ProForged brand, which I am not familiar with.

What is your experience with these?

Thread 'Moog Gusher Bearing Design (Tie Rod, Ball Joints)'

Just wondering what are your thoughts on Moog's advertisement of them using the gusher bearing design in chassis parts. For anyone unfamiliar, it's a powdered metal ball that is porous for grease to penetrate/soak through. The ball usually also has grease grooves and is housed in a metal seat.

If you move a brand new Moog joint, there is a lot of friction in the movement. In comparison, most OEM chassis parts use a polished heat treated ball in a teflon seat which provides a smoother low friction movement. I read somewhere that this is a 50 year old design? I'm also not convinced that a...
 
Replacing a lower control arm in a civic that I installed Moog parts in 2 years ago. No more Moog parts for me...

Going with a delphi this time around for double the cost.

I've been wondering the same thing about Moog myself, but I have no clue about their quality and it seems to be a mixed bad from what I've read.

Check on BECK/ARNLEY. They are known for providing premium OE-quality parts and fluids, and many of their parts are sourced from the original manufacturers (says Google's AI). I was looking at Beck/Arnley ball joints for a Toyota and they look an a lot alike the OEM parts except for the castle nut.

Moog still uses a metal on metal ball design which OEMs have largely moved away from. In principle it's tougher, but ONLY if you grease it regularly. It's largely unnecessary for most passenger vehicle applications, especially for anyone who services their vehicle at a shop because someone will eventually forget. I would go with a sealed ball design for 90% of use cases.

On some applications, Moog just reboxes someone else's part. I've had a 555 part for a Toyota in a Moog box.

I used to see that as well. Quite a bonus upgrade.
