Model Y #1 selling car in the world for 2023

Huh???
You need to rethink your statement as Tesla is nowhere near Toyota sales numbers.
Tesla sold 1.8 Million Vehicles in 2023 WORLD WIDE and a fraction 1/3rd 600,000 of that USA sales

1. Toyota sold over 11 Million Vehicles in 2023 and 2,248,477 of that USA

2. VW sold over 9 million Vehicles ... etc etc
Sorry I didn't understand the title stating Tesla was the #1 seller. It seemed a little sketchy.

I’ve seen you post before and in the back of my mind I figured that was it. Hope my reply didn’t sound too “strong.”
It’s tricky, sometimes reading other peoples words I know!
Sometimes I read my own and think to myself that’s not exactly the best choice of words when I try to convey a point

I believe pickups are #1 in US sales, but not worldwide. Perhaps someone has the numbers...
No luxury vehicle in the United States sells on a large scale outside of the United States.
We have some of the highest medium income in the world and disposable income.
Heck, there are car manufacturers overseas that produce cars just to be sold in the United States because of that.

We also love our large vehicles and SUVs, for our incredible massive interstate system. The median income for SUV purchases in the United States are in the over $90,000 range

It may surprise you the median income of a pick up truck purchaser is approximately 110,000. Significantly above the median income in the United States and tremendously higher than the median income around the world.

I’m just saying it’s silly to compare products that are sold in this country on a large scale compared to other countries.
I remember the old Harley Davison versus Honda motorcycle comparisons.
Honda motorcycles sells in the many millions around the world however most of them are mopeds.
And in the European Union, historically the masses by far drive small economical cars.

I don’t really think there’s many EV bashers in here except for a few.
They come in waves. A few new names pop up occasionally just to fire off a couple of misunderstood "facts" and disappear. There's a few I'd call out as specific Tesla bashers, but I'll be nice right now.

The main reason most of those trucks and SUVs don't sell in other countries are pedestrian crash standards. They're just not legal in most countries. We're not going to get pedestrian crash standards(even though I think we should have them) because it would kill the truck market. Kind of scary to think though that the median income of $110k are buying $60k-$80k vehicles. That isn't a good ratio.

That is simply not true, not sure where you’re getting this info.

Did you notice all EU cars going with a high, flat and ugly front grill seemingly overnight? That was needed to meet EUs pedestrians safety regs. Trucks are already like this and have been for decades.

But because they are expensive and have very bad gas mileage, very few people will buy them. It’s simply not worth for the US manufacturers to bring them there.
@alarmguy is pretty spot on with his assessment.

Those were low numbers on income. I was surprised at the income levels I was seeing but cant find the acticle I read in the last week,
It was very complete. giving ranges something like 100 to 200, 200 to 250, 250-350k I'll post if I can find but already tired.

Other countries dont have the roads we do and are the size of a postage stamp. I cant get into crash standards and glad they dont exist here. I just dont know if I can agree, all BMW Spartanburg SC makes are their SUV X series and 70% of them are exported. Their assembly lines run full speed 24/7 and it's a massive facility that only builds to order. Because of lower income levels overseas, some lack the options we Americans buy. But I hear it is still like that but less so than even a few years ago. I have a family member who works there.

This is why I think EVs are hitting a ceiling in sales growth. They will still sell but they need to step it up to SUVs. It's what Americans drive. This is where I think GM has got a benefit. Even though this is a hate story I guess it is factual

Then let’s see them get tested and see if they pass. The EV trucks aren’t showing up there either.
