Mobile 7500

Cheaper blend - no 7500 warranty - Tropartic or Motorcraft from WM. $2.75 is IMO the worst price deal when $1 sale SM oil get 5000 miles and for another $3.75 you get syn 3 like Shell Rotella syn T , sale syn or WM ST syn.

Plus he doesn't tell us whether it's highway miles or cty driving, how many miles or anything that actually impacts the oil, so how are we supposed to know ________ oil to use?

And Mobil 1 in my 93 AWD Eclipse Turbo Sucks, it burns way too much oil w/Mobil1.

I'm using walmart syn and it works alot better. Guess my engine has some wear, or it is the turbo not sure.

But 6000 on Mobil 1 synthetic would be better then on mobil 7500.

I might even be tempted to just use Chevron Supreme or the walmart synthetic for 6 mth/6K OCI.

Does the car smoke at all, burn oil or run rich? Those contaminate the oil fasdter, in which I wouldn't do 6/6k anyway. If it runs clean, you're probably fine.

Even though I have no idea how many miles you drive, or the conditions that you drive in, city, country? Highway? Gravel road?

When people ask you are supposed to tell them not just shrug it off with a LOL

Hey, Most of my driving is city driving, it's not hot here. avg 65-70. I do some high way but very little. for 2.50 a quart and 7500 mile warranty you wouldn't recommend it? Chevron supreme seems like a decent oil.

Frankly I have to admit I have not spent a whole lot of time researching their 5000 and 7500 oils.

There is too much marketing going on at Mobil 1. There are too many kinds of oil.

A good oil shouldn't have to have a number stuck on the bottle like a 5000 or a 7500. I mean you never know how long it will last, cause it depends on the engine condition , driving conditions and other factors. So they have no business marketing products that way.

I mean if the oil is good then it shoud last quite a while anyway, know what I mean? So if 7500 is so good, does that mean 5000 is inferior? Why not just make all good oil and then we don't have to worry about it.

Are they gonna start selling a 3000 next? And a 10,000? LOL

It's too much hype.

I feel the same way about the synthetics. You have basic mobil one, and then you have that "other one", can't remember what it is, isn't it supposed to be good for 15K? Well shouldn't the Mobil 1 Synthetic be high enough quality? Is there something inferior to Mobil 1 Synth, that I should be buying the 15K kind?

I'm rambling here, but do you get what I mean? As stated above, $1.09 or whatever for an SM oil, I don't know if I want to pay double for an oil with a 7500 on the sticker. Why not 8000? 8500?

Although I realize all the companies offer a few different types, Mobil 1 has just gone nuts with marketing and should spend more time and energy on product development. Simplify the product selection, and deliver the most bang for the buck.

I haven't spent much time on this 7500 here on the boards. What's the consensus?

It might be good oil but I would buy something with less marketing

gimmicks and better overall value.

But get what you want....

Well your right to an extent. Except they guarantee it will be good for 7500 or 6 months. It's a semi senthetic oil too. What can I get for 1.09. I haven't found any except for coastal.

Depending on the PCMO application this oil will shear out of grade ever so slightly. However it will provide excellent wear protection. I like the chemistry. Lab techs hate to "attempt" to interpret the results with the higher sodium component of the add pack.

Add a Amsoil EaO oil filter to the mix and enjoy!

Tell you what, run the Mobil 7500 for 7500 miles or 6 months with a Wix filter and drive your car with no oil related worries.
After all, Mobil gives you a warranty....

Don't do it... Follow your owners manual. Mobil did not put your engine together.

I was thinking about wix. Is that good? what PCMO?

Wix filters are just fine. Purolator pureone and purolator premium plus filters are good as well.

"What pcmo"

I don't understand what you're asking. PCMO stands for Passenger Car Motor Oil

Funny... Cars get the PCMO designation, and trucks get the HDEO (heavy duty ENGINE oil)designation. I'll never understand the english language. Guess I can start making up acronyms too... PPPPPO. (Pennz Plat Plus Power Plant Oil)

yea i just wasnt sure what the acronymn stood for. Goin w/mobil and will install it this weekend. Man who would want to go to a jiffy lube. I'm saving money buying the oil and filter rather than going to the jiffy lube and my oil is lasting twice as long. Like a $25 savings.

He was not asking what his owners manual says, he asked if it could do 7500 miles. (and BTW, my owners manual does say 7500 miles, as do most others).
