Oil change interval Mitsubshi Mirage 2024

The maintenence manual for this little car states the oil change interval for NON-stressed driving is SIX months or 7500 miles. I seems to me that this is excessive. I don't drive much, only 3500 miles a year and I've had to change the oil twice. Unfortunately, I'm an old beat-up guy, a disabled veteran, and I can't change the oil myself. Even my trustworth independent mechanic charges $90 (0-20 full synthetic but only 2 1/2 quarts) and the dealer is $200.

Opinions please

Bring your own oil to your mechanic. Just allow him his own new oil filter replacement.
I do this at a couple different Valvoline Oil Change Shops for my daughters rides and they both charge me $29.50.
