Oil change interval

Im in Montana and the truck is garaged and not used daily, just for weekend runs to the mountains and when theres a lot of snow in winter. Our Camry is used fpr daily driving Thanks for the help guys

My wife’s garage kept Lexus ES350 gets a 3-4K mi synthetic oil change annually and a synthetic filter change every 2yrs. Ideally early spring. A used oil analysis has normal levels of wear metals and the absence of fuel dilution. Currently at 61k.

My recommendation is to use a Batteryminder de-sulfurnator connected by an enternal 12v SAE cable for a no hood opening trickle charge.

Good advise on the batteryminder. I do this and have 10 year old batteries that continue to crank away.

On my recertified 21 RX350, I brought the original battery back from near death. It took weeks.

Is intake oxygen any different than the oxygen in the air around use, to which the oil is constantly exposed?

While going out for a log drive every now and then is generally considered helpful, how have you determined a 15 mile run every few weeks is appropriate?

FWIW, my Camry doesn't get used as much as it did a couple of years ago, and I take it out every now and then for a 100 mile or so drive. That will surely "boil off" any water and many contaminants, but, IMO, it's not a substitute for frequent (appropriate) oil changes.

When my 5.3L Tahoe - same engine as the Silverado - got to be 5 or 6 years old I got another vehicle - so it was not getting driven much.

I would go 1,500 - 2,000 miles a year - I started going 3,000 miles or 18 months between changes - whichever came first.

It now had 60,500 miles and I started driving it more - close 3,500 a year - now I go to 50% on the oil change monitor which is about 3,000 miles, then I change the oil but not the filter. I have about 2 months before the next change with oil + filter. The filter has 5,600 miles - the oil only 2,600. Oil still looks new.

If you search there is a guy that did some videos about this topic.

He had some low mileage per year vehicles and he ran them for way more than a year - sending the oil out for analysis and even the oil that - say had 4,000 miles over a 4 year period still tested good.

IMHO the miles is more important than the time.
