Mobile 7500

Is this oil really capable of a 7500 oci? is it worth it for 2.50 a quart?

I will start because I know this is what people will want to know to answer your question. What kind of car? How does it get driven? How long does it get driven? What kind of shape is the car in?

lol. it's an 03 mitsubishi lancer es. with 48,000 miles. It is driven fairly light. Some flooring a once or twice a week.

From what everyone on this forum tells me, any SM rated conventional can go 4-5k, so it makes me wonder why I would ever bother with a blend.

well i mean it costs 2.50 and castrol gtx costs 2.75 and it's not a blend. Also the 7500 is guaranteed for 7500 miles or 6 months. I want to take it to 6k

I would bet you that using Havline for 2.00/qt and not going further than 4-5k would be better on your engine.
But then again, everyone who knows me, knows that I'm not really into extended drain. IMO a car costs too much money to neglect cheep insurance by changing the oil a little more often than the average extended OCI'er.

Plus, I plan to keep my cars until they are useless to anyone else who would want it, so it doesn't bother me to change the oil a little more often for my own peace of mind.. (no edit feature)

true. ill go tomorrow and look at the prices. if i do the 7500 im only going to take it to 6k and i'm going to put a wix filter on.

I've seen ppl bump on other forums. I when you say something it brings your post to the top of the viewing table so that people might respond to it. So you don't think there's a difference between havoline and mobile 7500?

Instead of bumping this thread and wating for people to spoon feed you with answers, I'm going to say what others have said to you recently.. Search. These aren't ground breaking topics here, the products you are asking about have been talked about a lot in the past. Check out the uoa section and see how these oils perform, etc. I'm sorry if i'm coming across as rude, but people asking"how good is this product" gets old fast..

Take a look over in the UOA section. I just did an oil analysis on Mobil 1, with our car at 7500 miles.

It was for a 2000 Subaru Outback, 4-cyl engine.


The results were great.

The search function on this forum zucks really bad. Before the new take-over of this forum, it was very user friendly. Now, you can't even edit this thing. You almost need a degree in computers to use this now. Well, ok that was an exageration, but the search function is useless to me now. It use to be really handy.

Yea I've noticed that. The search results suck. Still an awesome forum though. If anyone has anything to say. Say it now!. I think i'm gonna go mobil 7500 + wix. 5k oci? keep the filter in or change that too at 5k oci?

I say, Havoline, Castrol, or Mobil 5000 or even Valvoline for 3500-4000 miles.

Or just plain Mobil 1....I'm sold on the stuff for Japanese engines. Wix is a good filter, too. You should be fine between 5000 and 7500 mile oil changes.
