I agree.
The mpg difference is between newly added oil and after 1000+km, the time spans about 2 weeks.

Look at this!

There is huge money in it. We had a busy station near Boston refilling M1 qt bottles with ST 10w30 conventional then putting them out on the pump island selling for $11.
The pump jockey would check the oil as a full service, short stick it then sell a qt, he then threw the empty in a separate container to be refilled later out back.

Well done mate.
Compare $1.3/qt(maybe less) of bulk conventional, and $6/qt mobil1. Not mentioning the filtered junk oil in China.

So maybe there are other factors. New (or recent) owners of cars. Change the oil and do other service related work like change air cleaners and air-up the tires ... Drive for a while and gee, the car seems happier...

Also, maybe these fake oils are actually getting better. Shannow has a paper about "used oil" being better. That is oils that are partially used up have additional chemicals created in the engine as they are used. Some of these chemicals are highly beneficial.

So this used and filtered oil is actually "road refined" oil that is better than the "new" fake stuff. It has a higher mix of "made in the motor" chemicals. I wouldn't want to run it w/o a lab analysis, but if it's working ...

Any oil is better than no oil. But the cars listed are high dollar items. Why take a chance? Get real oils. You can run extended intervals on the real deal, so bite the bullet and import some real oil from Australia or Malaysia or something ...

Get something that is off the Mobil brand so you know it's not being faked as much. Ravenol, Motul, Enos - lots of option to make sure it's not "bulk fake" ...
