Mobil ! V Twin 20W50.....Maxima Extra

I have recently put The 20W50 in my speed triple and noticed on the Mobil 1 Web site that they recently changed the labeling on the 20w50 and under the specs it does not list a MA rating on the 20w50 but it does on the 10w40 according to their web site. Did they change the formula recently (last month or two) on the 20w50? Since I switched to M1 a month ago I noticed my bike runs hotter than it did on Motul 300V. I also talked to the guys at Maxima and I think I will try their Extra 15W50 on the next change. The extra was able to neutralize acids better than 300v. The maxima guy also said the "Extra is already a candidate for the ultra new JASO T903:2011 testing that will begin in the coming 2 months. This will be a certified oil under the newest wet clutch credential."

Mobil specs changed in about the last year IIRC. The 20w50 is thicker than before. The specs don't look as good on paper.

But no wet clutch MA rating?

I don't have a bottle in front of me and I am in Australia.

I seriously think the other two oils you mention will perform better than the V-Twin. It is also close to a 60 weight now and according to the latest used oil analysis here, only gets thicker with use.

Now that you mention the heavier weight I noticed the bike takes longer to start up and just seems to be under load and not as free reving at higher RPM's. Any opinions on the Extra 15w50?

Never used it. But Sunruh reckons it one of the best he has tried.

It's pretty warm where you are? If so I would be thinking of using the Valvoline VR1 20w50. You have a wet clutch in the trumpy?? If so keep an ear out for clutch slip. Sure it would be ok, worth trying since that oil is real good and I think 1/2 the price of the Mobil in your neck of the woods.
