Bring me one too if you don't mind. Jeez, people selecting oil by how it sounds in the engine! You could also try what people used in their smoking Chevy Vega's. 4 quarts of STP and 1 quart of oil.

I see no one has mentioned "burping" the car after its oil change. I know in this fast paced world you don't have time for the extras. I provide this service for a very reasonable fee. You also receive a certificate suitable for framing..

I used 0W30 AFE in our 01 Outback several years ago and it was loud from the beginning. Loud enough my wife noticed it, and she has never noticed anything about the operation of a car, ever. I switched to regular M1 5W30 at the next OCI and it has been smooth and quiet. I have used M1 5W20 and 5W30 in all of our vehicles since then and they are all smooth and quiet. I have no need for a 0W anyway so I see no need to try AFE in anything else.

I missed that part. You mean the guy is trying to go 7200 miles on 0W-20 ? No wonder !

People change the oil on their bike chain more often than that !

IDK
Toyota makes a blanket recommendation of 10K on 0W-20 for most of their current cars while most current Honda IOLMs will also allow this on the same grade under what would have to be considered typical operating conditions. I know that our '12 Accord will as we use it if I run it to 0% MM.
The 0W-20 grade might be too thin for serious high speed driving of the kind that you can sometimes do in some parts of Europe as well as for the drain intervals expected in most of Europe, but for the kind of driving we do here, where a sustained speed in the young eighties is considered fast and a 10K OCI is considered daringly long, a 0W-20 is probably all you need.
Many makers recommend this grade for many applications for that reason.

God no it's not a gdi. I didn't even want to deal with that issue. Lol just regular old mpfi.

What makes an Advanced Fuel Economy is tiny ball of metal that came out of the engine, kkkkK. Rollers from ball bearings! But is a great deposit cleaner, the metal blaster, bahahahahah.

Can you retype that response in English?

Did not expect this - so going to start with a disclaimer. I split my business between SOPUS and XOM - both lubes and fuels. Don't have a real dog in the Mobil 1 noise thing - just don't have (or had) any motors that reacted that way and don't need 0w.
I have used silver bottle PP or M1 in all in signature but the Explorer - today I changed that 3.5eB to PUP 5w30 - and it now has more valve train noise. I even asked my wife - agreed.
This is my first time with the flagship Ultra and it is the thinnest looking 5w30 I have ever seen (yes, looked at real specs before I ordered). I walked away holding my hand under the funnel and first time ever not even a drip. Thought of the residual oil mentions BrocL makes from time to time - but this is not the vehicle parked allot ... Will use my other jug in Cruze ...
Well - had to get this off Amazon when WM has my normal SOPUS or XOM products. Going back to normal PP/M1 in the future ... I have also ordered a DB meter ...

Don't listen to Mocaca, he fills up every thread with troll garbage.

Usually I don't jump in on these M1 threads, but I noticed the same thing with my 2004 prius.

The oil has 500 miles on it. This is AZ clearance oil; I intend on using ASL after this 10K run.

So I take it from this that you do not use engine sound as a criteria...

I don't like hearing engine bits banging together. If I can hear it, they are. So I always go for quiet and smooth if I can get it. And it's usually not hard to do if you try a few different oils

I think there is more than just DB level at play - frequency perhaps ? (And what does your ear hear varies so much)
For example - the Plat Ultra that was noisy under the metal roof in front of my shop - was not bad along side a cinder block wall picking up BBQ for lunch. Gonna start playing with DB meter - but bottom line the oils in question do major Proof of Performance testing in addition to lab work ...

My olm will pretty much be at zero at around 7200 miles. That being said what options do I have that would be better. I think I'm just going to start changing it every 5,000 anyway so I can have a regular routine. What would you guys do. For warranty reasons I do not want to go longer than the olm. Let me know what you guys would do thanks everyone

Hey ram_man! Have you considered trying Pennzoil Synthetics in your vehicle? We are currently running our Pennzoil Used Oil Analysis Program this year, and we'd love for you to participate. Through this study, you'll receive a sample of Pennzoil Synthetics to be tested in your vehicle along with complimentary and unbiased lab results from Blackstone. If you're interested in participating, please send us a private message for more details. Looking forward to your response! - Gena & The Pennzoil Team
